To be honest, however you can afford 12K for a watch, no matter how many diamonds it has and no matter it's made of platinum, you still payed $12,000 for a watch.
I can totally understand buying a nice watch, a good one, sure, spend a few hundred, but bear in mind it's a watch, not a car, not a house, a watch.
Buying such flashy trinkets is nothing but showing off you have more money than most.
Hell, you might call me jealous, well, you're right, i would love to have $12,000 floating around (and more) that i could just p**s away, but i could think of a thousand things i could buy for the same money.
personally i would spend at most 100 bucks on a watch, and use the remainder to buy other things (furniture, a car - if i didn't already have one, several uber-l33t computers, a year of college education)...you know, things that don't just sit there and look gaudy...rather, something of actual use.
hmmmm.... for 12k you could buy more sex than his g/f will give him.
if you lets say price it at $500 a shot thats 24 times!
She will wear the watch once, and say it went out of style.
so if he ever asks her to marry him will he need to buy her a 120k ring? (ring roughly 10x the cost of the watch?? )

I just hope it makes her happy.
