Nerf The Stomp!

Sorry for the hysteria within the title, but I really think that Stomped needs to get nerfed.

I was playing on an 8v8 server, and we were building outside a hive in Tanith.

Then a onos comes and stomp spams us, while his buddies chew our legs off (skulks).

That one onos was responsible for the loss of 5 heavies.

I mean, stomp spamming really needs to go, maybe delay the time just a bit between stomps?

    Stomp has already been nerfed quite a bit... Less range... Less of a duration...

    It does not need to be nerfed any more.

    Please tell me you're kidding! Stomp has already been nerfed quite a bit. It just sounds to me you and your teammates lost to a good tactic.

    Nerf stomp further?!?

    It's already less than half as good as it was in 2.0.

    I think if anything it should have it's range reduced slightly, and have the stun time put back up to 2 seconds, or perhaps 1.5.

    Actually what you described, the "stomp and chomp" is a perfectly valid tactic. In fact, I would go as far to say as this was spawned off of the FIRST stomp nerfs. Used to be stomp lasted for 2 seconds, and now its 1. Before, that onos would have taken care of all 5 of your heavies single handedly, timing his stomps so that you can never move, all while he easily devoured each and every HA. Now, Im sure there were people that may have done the stomp and chomp when the stomp was 2 seconds, but there was really no need. Now, stomp and chomp is not only effective for owning multiple HA, but also a good tactic to get the skulks res so they can evolve into higher lifeforms. FEED LITTLE ONES FEED!

    I don't like any tactic that doesn't give an opportunity to get out.
    If you get caught by one stomp, and you're up against a decent Onos, is there any way that a person can get out of it? Say by jumping at the right time?

    If not, maybe stomp needs to take more energy so that marines have a second or two to try and get the heck out of it between stomps.

    Yeah, but that was the point of taking it down to 1 second. With 2, and adrenaline, you could stomp infinately. Now, not only do you not stay stomped for long, if they do keep you stomped for more than 4 seconds, they run out of adren and have to run away. And thats why I say making that change spawned the stomp and chomp, or stomping for skulks to maim marines. I mean come on, the onos is the top tier alien, charge is useless, devour is only good if you can get away with a tasty heavy, and well gore is gore. The onos needs stomp. IMO, they should have left stomp at 2 seconds, and uped the stamina cost for the same effect.

    The time was lessened because sitting in a stomach for 30 seconds doesn't really help with the whole fast game idea.

    Although with the way it is now, it wouldn't make much of a difference, eh? (haha)

    The point is, short devour is <i>helping</i> you, really.

    if a group of marines are working together well, the onos can't stomp them all, now if a marine alone is in front of an onos do you really think he should have any chance of escaping ? We are talking about the most powerfull and biggest alien lifeform even if it was nerfed...
    A marine alone in front of it can't live.

    I think stomp was already nerfed enough, if it continue they will become useless.

    I see some contradiction here. I suppose the skulks that actually did the biting count?

    What I would like to see is some modified range, it goes ridiculously far. Possibly a <i>tiny</i> bit longer to compensate. Make it actually correspond to the shockwave sprite thing instead of going at a different speed, slightly to the sides, and further.
    I also think that being able to "jump" the stomp as marine is quite silly. It reminds me of Mario 64 when you jump Bowser's waves.

    Yes. Nerf stomp more. From now on, stomp should give marines health, reload their guns for them and randomly give them ammo, weld their armor, destroy the onos, every alien, chamber, and resource tower, the hive itself, and the universe as we know it.


    Or we could beef it up to levels where it's useful again, and fix what's REALLY wrong with stomp: the range that stretches practically 500 feet past where the onos would be able to get to ANYway.

    So... you want to be stuck in an onos stomach for a long time? IMO they did this for the marines, because lets say you have a really badass guy on your team thats like HA HMG or JP HMG, and hes really the only thing stopping the aliens from winning and.... "GLOMP" hes out of the game for 30 seconds...

    You got owned TBH.

    If a big frggin Onos sneaks up on 5 HAs, who were helpfully standing roughly in a line instead of spread out so they could cover each other, and whilst the basic marine tactic of not all building at the same time was forgotten, you will die.

    He didn't sneak up. I saw him take heavy fire and then he stomped, the ridiculously long stomp range (this was in a thin corridor) affected all my heavies, then his little buddies came in as he repeatedly stomped us.

    Elite teamwork, big time. But the problem was that it was unstoppable, unless an outside force of sufficient strength broke through (which was not the case).

    They were too close together. Hallway or no, if an Onos is coming you don't all stay within stomp range. The duration is not long enough anymore for Onoses to trap marines indefinitely unless they are ALL within the reach of one stomp, which basically never happens. Stomp has been nerfed enough.

    In that case you needed some teamwork hax to counter their teamwork hax. You didn't, you died.

    Don't get me wrong, i'm not sayin i'd have done any better either as a player or a comm but in hindsight you got outplayed. Just one thoughtful player standing out of stomp range with a GL would have saved the day for example.

    Agreed. Halve the range, up duration to 1.5 seconds. Stomp would then be perfect.

    Meh, almost every ns map already involves alot of stomp-counterage. Half range sounds pretty damn dinky - and it is one of the few ways a wounded Onos has a chance in hell of making it home anyway.

    The only time I've felt Onos were dominating with stomp is when a cornered 'rine team launched its last desperate assaults - and got stomped in a hallway.
