<div class="IPBDescription">how to be more involed in the community</div> I've played half life mods for a year or two now, and I love them to death. NS is deffinitly one of my favorite half life mods out there but I've never really been very involved in any HL mod by playing competetive or very serious I've allways just played for fun. Since there are many vetrens to the game here I was hoping to get a few pionters on how to get more out of the game

2. Find a regular server with people you like and stick with it. May I suggest linuxmonster (and no, that has nothing to do with the fact that I admin that paticular server <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->).

3. If you want to get more compeditive, join #findnsscrim or #nspug and get involved in the clanner scene.

4. And... if you want to eventually be respected, don't do stupid things.

But chatting on these forums also helps, but be careful, there can be a fine line between posting and what people consider spamming.

Its just general things if your in a chat room be polite, dont use offensive language, if your in game ask what chambers people want, dont sell IPs, dont take over someones CC if they get out to build, dont horde your res if something needs building build it. etc etc

As for servers <a href='http://www.ntfm.org' target='_blank'>NTFM</a> have 2 Ns servers running that are UK based. They always have admins on tagged and untagged and the general lvl of play is quite high, also the secound home of BCK.

Personaly, I don't like competative play (mainly b/c I suck at NS....)
I find hanging out in a good pub to much more fun then competative play.
However, other like competative play.

Then we get in to the 'pubs suck' 'claners suck' thing.

Well, they both suck honestly. there are stupid people in pubs (thus the 'find a good pub') and stupid people in Clans (thus the find a clan that you LIKE the people you play with).


and yah, Lunixmonster is a great server.

and of course you can always do a "whois" on a person, and see what rooms THEY are in, and join some of those

to do that say "/whois <username>" and you'll get a list in the server connect list.

Become <b>competitive</b> and join or start a clan, the better you are at the game the more you know (or should know). This will make your opinion's more valuable and listened to. Take Hambone for example, many of his suggestions are listened to and used and tested, or you could even help out in the bug testing process(with the bug testing team a.k.a grepdashv) if you prove yourself good at that sometimes.

well I know that in CS my brother was in a clan and they played other clans a lot are there many clans in NS? cuz the community isn't very big and for the most part isnt' very educated in the game

they're not selective with their recruiting. they used to have a few cool guys, like #include and lordxdemon, but im not so sure about now. they are all super hax0r players that own it up in their own pub server. go check em out

ok that sorta just came out of no where but I think that everyone in the NS communaty should bring what the can to the table and then it'll grow into a big pool of ideas and stuff and that'd be nice to see.

hehe avenger, your getting a nice little mixed bag here. Anyways, if you have endless amounts of time to spare for NS join a compeditive clan (or you could start one if your a real keener). The NS comunity has a compeditive aspect just as active as any other online gaming comunity, Including thier own CAL tournies (or how ever CAL works, I don't really know/care). Clans generally play eachother in 6vs6 rounds, alternating humans and aliens. The best way to become a prominent member in this comunity seems to be to stick around for a million years and not quit every 2 months. #nspug offers 6v6 to people who aren't in clans and who are willing to learn some teamwork from the more experienced members of the NS community.

The best way to get in a a clan is to go to findnsscrim and spam lucid for hours. This may not work out very well but then i'll help you out just for amusing me. Actually you know what, spam any dn member and if you get him to **** about it in our private channel i'll hook you up.

so most clan matches are 6 vs 6 alternating aliens and rines. thats cool most clans just play NS matches right cuz I enjoy a good game of combat every now and then but with a clan I'd want to have the teamwork to play NS not dink around on CO.

You might also want to try getting into the creative side of things. These forums have very vibrant and active Mapping, Art and Customisation sections that you can take part in.

If you want to become more involved from another side of view, you could donate to help NS grow.

Since I started my clan I have enjoyed NS a lot more thoroughly, with the competition, working with others to master and overcome challenges. If you start a clan it's a lot more work but you'd be a lot more involved, otherwise joining one is the way to go.
