there is no linux version (yet) and uploading an avatar is not possible in the beta release, i have no problems with my firewall and the sound is verry clear.

    Hrm. Someone check this for spyware, if you're interested in it enough to try.

    After all, the 'what is skype' page lists it as 'From the people who brought you Kazaa!', and we all know how bad THEIR track record is, bogging down their users with crapware like Gain, Gator, and so on.

    When you say "now you dont have to call friends on the cell phone" all I get is an image of 40 year old white guys in suits with a case duct taped to their back and them carrying a monitor.

    I use it to talk to my father (gets some pressure off your phone bill). We don't use the latest version, but the one I use was absolutely spyware-free.

    indeed , the phonebill, and it will be free for some time, i'm not a whiner so I accept the prg as it comes, you can't stop spyware completely.

    and it's a 256 bit coded transmission with 0,5 seconds delay within the same ISP network, myea... you need some computer equipment to decode 1 call <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
