Sorry, it's an old bait, I just can't let it slide...

Freedom of Speech is a so called defensive right. Defensive rights can only be cited against abstract authorities, most notably, states and governments.
If you are American, freedom of speech is for example defined so that the state must never hinder you from expressing your opinion. It has no bearing whatsoever at social intercourse between individual citizens.
If somebody calls me a 'c*cks*ucker', it's slander.

My brother installed Destruction Derby (an incredibly ancient game) on my computer after I asked him specifically not to.

Next thing I know my computer had totally screwed up. Had to reinstall Windows to fix the errors.

First off, there's a difference between a race of people and underage people.

Underage people are immature. Now now, I know there's going to be a crowd of reactively irate highschool freshmen out there who think they're all big and grown up; but we all thought that we were somehow better than our peers at that age. Looking back to when I was a freshman, I think I was pretty dumb. Adults around the world can't use immaturity as a reason; if they do, they're a minority. Hence, saying "Everyone from Country-X are cheaters" would be incorrect since it's a fad that typically goes with immaturity.

Second, I personally think a lot more people need smacking in public. It's humiliating. It's not going to kill you, but it's going to crush your ego. That's what we need these days. Too many jerks in the world hurt others' feelings for the fun of it. Give them a little positive reinforcement and they'll cut the crap out.

I don't care how old you are. Even kendergarteners know that teasing others is not nice.

I am of the opinion that it takes a community to raise a child, and tough love is just as important as nuturing care (however little the word 'love' has to do with it).

I got smacked around as a kid, and I'm better because of it. I never DARED make a scene in a public place of my own petty downfalls or defeats. It's just in bad taste for one thing, and I knew if I did the proverbial hammre was about to fall on my delicate pre-teen noggin.

And I've educated my fair share of kids. I mean it's not like I beat on them, but children have to understand that they are NOT the center of the universe, least they get arrogant and turn out to be bad citizens.

I feel no anger towards anyone who steered me in the right direction when I strayed, and there's a BIG difference between slapping someone upside the head lightly for breaking social norms and generally making an arse of themselves and being downright cruel.

Back on topic, kids who are acting too big for their shoes,(if you'll pardon the cliche), deserve a smack now and again. And Domo-Kun: Are you saying that contributing to a child's loss of hearing is worse than a small slap upside the head? Heck-If you're worried about brain damage, just slap him across the face!

Well... I agree that most people 14 and under are immature and quite annoying, but then again I am 14, and I actually get along better with people older than me than people in my own age group. It seems like the mindset of the average American 12-14 year old these days has been carefully fabricated by the media and large corporations over the years, conditioning for the biggest spending consumer possible. They've done well, and spawned a subculture (or, I shudder to think, replaced culture) with a dumptruck of marketing BS.

Anyways, don't forget about the rest of us out there - we're not all bad. You may actually find you don't mind having me under your command in Natural-Selection.

On the subject of stereotypes, understand that young teens wouldn't have the reputation they have if some of them weren't whinging, annoying, foul-mouthed spawn-campers. Not every child/teen falls into this catagory, that's true, but enough of them do to give the rest a bad name.

So how can you, the young teen/child mentioned here, improve your social standing and that of your group?

1. If you have a squeaky voice, do NOT use a microphone. Now this sounds pretty facist, but realise that there are a lot of people who the minute they hear such a voice will simply block it out. Or like me, burst out laughing hysterically. Then mute you. By not using voice communication until you're a little older, you can avoid a lot of abuse.

2. Don't go around swearing at everyone. When you're 12, it probably seems really cool to say "sh*t" or "****" all the time. Do it amongst your friends, not online. It will only get you flamed and others won't respect you.

3. Be polite and friendly. If someone new to the game asks you "Hey, how do I get a HMG?", do NOT reply with "OMG NOOB YOU F***ING SUCK!!!!!11". Not only will the new person not respect you, you'll lose the respect of your team-mates. Give them helpful advice instead. The same applies for commanding or being killed/killing others in game. Be calm and orderly as a commander and resist the urge to type "OMG HACKER YOU F***ING CHEAT" every time you die. It's not helping.

4. Impress people with your skills, not your mouth. Gamers will have a lot of respect for a 12 year old who can pull off a double-seige on ns_nothing against 3 hive aliens than they will for a swearing whinger who calls everyone a hacker. I've played under a 10 year old commander and he was amazing. Even after the game when he told us how old he was, he didn't lose respect amongst the players on either side, because he had earned that respect.

5. Outside of games, when you're visiting the house of an elder, or if you have older siblings, understand that they sometimes like to be left alone. Always ask before using their computer, and never without their express permission install anything on it. Do not go looking for folders labeled "System Resource Tools" because odds are they'll contain porn.

Teach the kids responsibility by letting them onto your computer and wanting everything the exact way as it was when they got there. Tell them in front of their mother, too.

Then when they screw up, smack them. With or without the mother present i dont care. Maybe they'll 'respect ma authorita!' if you show force...

I'm sorry, but this entire "politically correct parenting" crap has GOT TO GO. I'm sorry, but a parent saying 'Now Johnny, that's not nice. Stop that!" will not stop a child from doing said thing, no matter how many times they say it. They don't get any real reprecussions for acting bad, and are trained that acting bad is okay. Have you ever seen an 18 year old throw a temper tantrum? I have, and it's a pathetic sight. He did the same thing a 3 year old would do, and the parent still reinforces it by giving him what he wanted. If you aren't able to properly discpline your child, then either give them to someone who can or don't have them.

Children are like a dog. How you act around them and what you let them do will stick with them when they get older. If a dog can bark to high hell while you're eating and get food, he will continue to do so the next time, and so on till you either start punishing him or till he dies. Same for kids. If they make a huge nuisance of themselves, then punish in a way that they WILL feel. I personally think a good butt spanking works nicely. They are humiliated and punished at the sametime, making a longer lasting effect.

I have the right to enjoy a game without having to listen to some 5 year old spamming on the mic about how his day at kindergarten was.
