Damn knowledge Base...
Ive searched the microsoft knowledge bases, but it seems they are harder to get through than an onos in a vent.

Basically I need to know how to get rid of the option where i cannot hit certain keys at the same time, for a game im playing (O2Jam) i will need to be able to hit 7 certain keys at the same time (currently using 'asd space jkl') and no other configuration has really changed how it works.

If someone could possibly give me instruction into being able to use the keys i would be very appreciative. FYI Im using XP Home (dont badger me, parents fault) and have a USB keyboard.

Thanks in advance...

I think it's a keyboard thing, to hit more keys, you need a keyboard that allows it.

Thing is i was told it was configureable, and XP automatically turns the 'Minimum key presses' option, which i cant find..

I have this problem. I had Windows ME and I could press a lot of keys. I upgraded to Win XP pro and now my computer beeps at me when I press a lot of keys.

Yeah, beeps at me when I press more than 3. It sucks! If you're turning and walking and firing.. you can't hit any other keys for me. I found a way of getting around it though. If you use the mouse, it doesn't count as a "keyboard press" and so you get by with using the mouse as "freebies."

It appears that this keypresses are purposely limited by keyboard manufacturers to avoid putting any undue load on the processor.

This site shows a very in-depth view of the problem. It's a long read, but very informative.

Some people have gone to extremes to work around this issue. However, this is mostly to allow for multiple game pads on one keyboard for arcade gaming, and not for your problem in particular.

This piece of hardware seems like it could resolve the issue - but it's not free. But it's better than hacking it yourself.

While I don't think it is your problem, I did find a registry hack to change the keyboard buffer size. I don't think it has anything to do with your problem, but I figured posting the URL couldn't hurt.
