Xcom Apocalypse

Retro night
I finally got XCOM Apocalypse working on Win2k. What a fight I had with it too. But it finally capulated and grungingly agreed to work.
Thanks and cookies to:
- VDMSound for the sound.
- MouseDrv for a mouse.
- Some unknown guy for fixing the exes so that they actually work.
- Dosbox for providing me with a mechanism to debug it and fix some errors.
- some XCOM nutters for providing the advice.
MS get a heap of Onos poo for breaking it in the first place.
Although I have the originals of all the XCOM games (including XCOM: Enemy Unknown on 3 floppies), I believe the first 3 are now abandonware and can be downloaded and installed legally.
If anyone wants to run this game, drop me a line and I'll send some instructions, links etc...

Some people have difficulty playing X-Com 1 on their PC, this is because of the new graphics cards being incompatible with it's engine.
What you have to do is, you have to open the DirectX tool program called DXDiag, then you go to the Graphics tab and disable Direct3D 'enhancement' (could be called different, since my DirectX is dutch). Save your settings and now UFO: Enemy Unknown should work.
Took me quite a while to figure it out, but at least it works. Processor speed affects alot of things though, you might wanna change the bullet and walk speed to 'very low'.
Oh, and if you want to play a 3D game again (which is like, everything), you'll have to change it back. A shortcut might be handy.
Is that like a cross between "capitulated" and "copulated?"

Theres an easier way, you can get the collector's edition .EXE fixes here. Turns out it was a very simple mistake on the DirectX programmer's part (aparently they weren't taking pitch into consideration).
I've too many DOS games to have to hunt out fixes for, so I'm just going for the simplest option - install them all to a tiny drive and play my brains out as and when I like.
Edit-
BTW, first Chryssalid encounter is a guaranteed trouser soiler, folks.
"How the hell is it still standing???" *sound of several Auto Cannons*
