No, there is no way to start at level 10...

Hanging around other teammates while they get kills gives you some experience.
Killing enemies on your own gives you some experience.

Other than being in/near "the action" most of the time, there is not way to speed up experience gain.

You get more XP for killing things on your lonesome (RAMBO). When you are with team mates you spread the XP out between you all then because you have team mates with you, you get a bonus. Otherwise sticking together would get you crap all.

Fastest way for me to get XP is ramboing, then attacking objective then spawn camp till i die (i dont spawn camp if odds are against the other team or if they are newbs).

Welding cc or healing hive gets you XP too not as much but in some rare games i have gotten to level 10 from healing hive only while rines run in and get slaughtered by my team underneath me. Same with welding although you are an easier target while welding.

But the grandmaster of XP gain I have found is hiding near the action. The best is hiding above the rine spawn quite often you arent noticed and the occasional parasite annoys em (big rine spawn rooms work best for hiding). If you get cloak there is less risk but i hate cloak in combat useless for any lifeform but a skulk IMO<<

I had a phone call when I was aproaching the MS in faceoff. I hid down back behind the cc, and took the call.

    Came back to a nice (+4) sign. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Incorrect. You get a bonus the more players are nearby when you make a kill, then it's divided. If one person kills a skulk, it might be enough for him to level to the next level, but if one person kills a skulk and 4 other persons are nearby, it might be enough to make him level up and be well on his way to the next level. Just an example.

One of the best ways to get XP is to work together. A team of marines that stick together, cover each others backs, and carry different weapons for use on different lifeforms will do far better than a buch of rambos with shotties. If you can co-ordinate your team, you have a much better chance of killing the hive. Likewise, if you have an onos, two fades, some lerks, and a gorge, you will do much more damage than a team of 1 type of alien (all oni for example).

You get the same amout of exprerience from a kill whether or not you have other people nearby. Combat encourages teamwork, not rambos.

If you lvl 1, kill a lvlv 4 skulk, you will get X amount of experience. If there are marines around you, you will still get X amount of exprience while they will get Y amount, depening on thier distance from you and thier current level. Working as a team helps the team, as everybody around benefits from the kill

    On the Cloak/camp XP thing

This is pretty much giving your team 1 less players - if i catch someone cloak camping i abuse the hell out of them.

The only time it i cool is when parasiting.

There are heaps of ways to get XP dude ..and of course you will suck when you first start. The wonderful thing about NS is some people play some aliens better then others.

    IE
    I am a poor skulk
    Medicore lerk
    Leet fade
    medicore onos.

find what you are good at an excel at it !

Unfortunately that is only the case in the lower levels, since the amount of xp gained per nearby teammate is a fixed number, so at l5 or so, the xp gain is lower then it would have been if you were alone.

But, if you want to get to level 10 fast for TESTING purposes, then you can start your own server and turn on sv_cheats, and use givexp #. "givexp 1000" should help.
