welcome back btw
Softimage released a games reel and a couple interviews. One with Valve:
Softimage stuff

Just click on the movie type you want below the picture of what you want to see.

The thing that bothers me about it is when Gabe mentions that the artists would rather play with the tools than play with the games they make. Does this mean we'll have great graphics and horrible gameplay? Maybe, maybe not, you decide.

yes but if you introduce a topic like this it's more likely to receive attention.

    You've got my undivided.

Meanwhile, let's have a song about the brilliance of what will be Half-Life 2:

    I play the Half-Life
Because there's no place I can go
    Half-Life
It's the only life I know
    Half-Life
And there's a thousand mods to play
    Half-Life
Until you play your life away

Seconded. Not only do I have no idea of how it works, but my graphics card can't really handle windowed OpenGL/D3D in 1280x1024.

Most artists don't appriciate their models. It's hard to find a landscape artist, for example, that doesn't immediately go sizing up picture-esque areas for composition, and if you check out the #nsmapping channel, you'll find very few people who actually play NS.

It's all just an artistic medium.

Truth. I myself have tried my hand at modelling for no other reason than my future as a Artist in game design. Thats something most people don't understand- Games are a Artform, whether the rest of the people agree or not.

I agree that games are art, yes, but art is subjective.
