Fps drop!
OK so ever since i updated steam i get 20-70 fps in NS servers. And i had 99-100 before the update..Whats wrong??I cant play with such a low fps.

I have put in fps_max 100 and v_sync always off?

I have geforce4 4200. When i go to advanced display settings it says my monitor refresh rate is 60 but i cant change it.

first off, if you have such a good mid range card (well not great but way more than enough to run NS) you should have VSync on, it stops polygon tearing when you look around, and you wont lose any performance with a 4200.

secondly, update graphics drivers - nvidia are constantly releasing new ones, and a lot of recent updates to most games need the new drivers.

thirdly, you edit your monitor refresh rate in the monitor tab, not advanced gfx properties. if its not letting you go above 60hz in either, it probably means corrupt graphics driver files or monitor drivers.

The current build of ns causes fps issues for a great number of people. If you have a look around this forum you'll see several threads about this topic.

You can try fiddling with "developer 1" in your autoexec.cfg and "fps_max 500" in your config.cfg at your own risk (!).

    Gave me 170 fps

umm where is the monitor tab so i can adjust the refresh rate?

i found something like it but dont know if im in the right place. It says "hide Refresh Rates that this monitor can not handel correctly" or something but when i take away the "X" i can choose more rates. Usually it only has 60. Now it has loads of different ones but it says that i can damage hardware to change the refresh rate.

What should i do?? I updated my Geforce4 4200 but do i need to update anything else?
