<div class="IPBDescription">Phase 8 testers</div> Since I've seen many new threads about MMORPGs and such lately, here's another MMORPG: FreeWorld.

FreeWorld is a MMORPG in a fantasy world, on a planet called Seregor (was chosen through a "name the planet" contest, I finished 2nd with "Pherrel") and still just alpha.
Right now they are accepting playtesters for phase 8 , which I think there will be PvP (player vs player) included. The graphics are not like the greatest, since it's alpha. You can signup for FreeWorld on this link: <a href='http://www.freeworldonline.com/signup.php' target='_blank'>http://www.freeworldonline.com/signup.php</a>

Screenshots : <a href='http://www.freeworldonline.com/sshots.php' target='_blank'>http://www.freeworldonline.com/sshots.php</a> (ranges from latest to the oldest versions of the game)

Updates are almost daily and as a playtester you can give suggestions and affect the game. For example, the compass in FW was my idea, and was soon implemented as equipment.

The world is going to implode from the sheer weight of all these fantasy MMORPGs. Middle Earth Online, WoW, Horizons, Everquest 2, DaoC, Warhammer Online, FreeWorld, Guild Wars, Lineage, Lineage 2, Everquest, Asheron's Call, Asheron's Call 2, Ragnarok Online, about 100 expansions, and many many more....

Make it stop! Make SOMETHING other than a MMORPG with elves, dwarves, and goblins set in a fantasy universe!

Okay then, set down your idea for a MMORPG and I'll see what I can do.

there are a few of those out there actualy:
    Anarchy Online
    SWG
    Project Entropia
    Biosfear/Savage Eden

The thing is that Fantasy apeals to the most people (every one knows your generic fantasy setting, and that is a good base to start with).

Personaly, the mmorpg I would LOVE to see? Shadowrun, AO is sorta close but not exactly.

Shadowrun quick run down for those that don't know:
Near Futre, World torn by alot of things (wars, destructions of gov'ts, the rise of the Megacoprs, the ongoing Corp wars, and ofcourse, the return of magic to the world)
Basicaly, take CyberPunk (girty future setting, with cyber tech generaly playing in alot), then add magic, mythical creatures, and the emergence of other races (trolls, orcs, dwarvs, and elves) These races were born from human parents, some are born as the other race (elves most notebly) though alot of them 'goblinized' at puberty (long and painful proces that involves some serious physical changes).

All of that took place a few decades ago, You now play a ShodowRunner. Basicaly a Free Lance skilled individual (be it drivers(riggers), hackers(deckers), mages, tech junkies, or the walking tin cans that have more cyber then flesh called Street Samuri). Highered to jobs for people/groups/you don't wana know, where they need some one skilled, expendable, and deniable.

This gives you a rich setting, a quick and good way to incorperate "So WHY are we just going on random missions for people?" (you are hired, so your got a mish). And ShadowRun is geared to having partys working together and complimenting eachothers skills:
rigger gets you there and back, hacker gets you your info, security expert gets you in, and the street sami pulls your bacon outa the fryr when all goes wrong... Oh and the mage does what ever he can (stupid divers buggers <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    oh, and:
    /me signes up for beta <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> Thanks mate.
