A Petition To Remove Combat Altogether

the only acceptable response is i agree or i concur or something to that effect.
however after that response, a reason for your agreeing may be given. short ones are preferable.
you should also write your name.
do note that this is not petition to actually remove combat, its only to know how many would like to see it removed.

I do say focus could use a small tweak: req level of 3 to get. Nothing huge, just the same level a marine gets shotgun if he rushes. Before you start hollering about the dmg 1 upgrade the marine gets on the way.. so does the alien in this case.

Focus=level 3 or higher
Goal? Allow marines a little more breathing room to get armor one. Honestly, I do go focus skulk but only if I plan on being fade because focus hurts as an onos. Level 3 is easily achievable in the first minute if you rush successfully, and it would be slow if you camped anyhow. As it is, I rarely pick focus first, I always get celerity to allow for the circle strafing and general chaotic movements to be all the more confusing.
Ah, I can imagine GL dmg vs skulks might come up: I saw an interesting idea involving size of alien affecting damage, but this is not really going to prove successful.
After all, a small dog size alien would get flung across the room realistically from a grenade blast, concussive especially, which I would imagine is more effective against buildings (The purpose of the GL) than fragmenting grenades that are designed for anti-personnal use.
So in short, it is tricky considering the GL is one point, with 2 points along the way.. coincidentally the same as a fade, save the fade gets the shaft because said fade has to get 3 levels without any upgrades. Again, level requirement could fill this gap, perhaps reduce the fade to 1 point and have a level 4 requirement to evolve into it.
What is supposed to be the counter to the grenade launcher? Is it the fade? The onos perhaps? The lerk is more res than it, and with reasonable luck I can peg a lerk with a grenade as it flees.. that should not happen.
As much as I enjoy the feature of impact grenades.. it may not be the best for the grenade launcher. It WOULD make the GL closer to a siege.. repetition=bad.
Combat should not adversely affect classic balance either. NS is the original and sure combat may seem all popular, but it is a lot newer than NS. New=curious people, and everyone will play it at least once to try it out. (Should really, need personnal experience)

I personally enjoy a good run-n-gun game of combat now and then. It's not as good as classic, to be sure, but that isn't enough to call for it's removal. And a lot of people like combat just as much as classic, if not more so. You're asking to give all those people a collective shafting?
Also consider how much work has gone into mapping, designing, programing, balancing, and bugtesting combat. You want Flayra and co. to completely throw all that out? I doubt it will happen.
Just play on non-combat servers.
And if there should be a petition, it should be about telling people to shut up, stop complaining, and just fricking play Natural Selection Classic if you hate Combat so much.
In fact, I'll start it right now:

Yes, classic is better, but combat can be loads of fun, and pumps adrenaline levels (the human, not the alien kind) to new highs on occasion.
Plus, do you really think that after the devs put that much time and effort into a worthwhile game mode, they are going to take it out?

P.S. It seems no one knows (or cares) about what a petition is about. If you do not agree, do not post in it and the lack of petitioners will be answer enough. If you want to counter-petition, make your own topic in which you collect more "votes". If you think the whole thing is silly, make your own topic and discuss it there.

People "who only play combat" don't play normal ns. I introduced NS to some friends and they didn't like it. When 3.0 was released I played combat with them and they liked it. People who like combat will play combat and not classic.
And for this petition. Remove combat. Would be fine for some people because they could just get back to real life instead of playing games all the time (this is what would happen if you remove combat. Many people would quit NS because classic is no fun right now).

NS development team, please separate these two installations
to prevent CS-plague from spreding to NS. Due the fact that
deathmatch is not the idea behind NS, it would only good to

renaming NS: Combat to "Deathmatch Classic" instead of

It won't be removed, and it shouldn't be removed. Some people enjoy it, so let them play while people who don't enjoy it play on Classic servers.
What does need to happen, however, is an improvement of NS_ so that it actually works with a small number of people. Smaller servers have a very difficult time filling up without Combat, so they can't really go Classic only even if they want to. This is a problem that has been around since 1.0 and never addressed; fix the population imbalance, on both ends of the scale, and people who don't like Combat won't have to play it.
Classic will stay. Period.
Nothing you, I, or anybody but Flayra says will change something about the issue, so save your time.
