anyways, just imagine them without the wires
also, i added a more clear source for the steam, it was there before, but it was hidden by the support, so i made it stick out more <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

    Cool! I like what you have so far. some constructive crit:
    The red screen sticks out, I'd fade that to a greyer tone of red.
    I remember in your previous post how in order to destroy the console, the aliens had to destroy the wires and it would plummet into the lava below, I take it you are elminiating that? It was an original idea, and perhaps if you could have the command console target something upon its destruction, could work something similar in.
    The console itself looks outta place. it is essentially a cube in the midst of cylindrical and rectangular textures/brushes. perhaps putting some sort of thing-a-ma-bob on two fo the sides will keep the geometric flow better.

    Nice job!  Aren't there enough cool computer/control panel textures in the ns.wad and ns_bast.wad?  People are almost guaranteed to give you a hard time about those HL textures. <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    never to fear, i put in a better console texture, and i don't mind being bugged about little HL textures here and there, many of the best maps i've seen have half-life textures <b>somewhere</b> in them... <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    BTW, A tip about using the sky brushes to block off empty openings... If you type in "black" in "environment map (cl_skyname)" field in map properties, you can get a less distracting blank opening.     In the first pic, the walls on the back and right need detail.  Also, there should be some kind of trim between the ceiling and the walls.  Other than that, it's a pretty good start you've got here (and a marked improvement over the last pics).

    ok, nwe pic, i've added more pipes, and changed the console texture... now i need insight as to what i should put in the other half of the room, my mind is drawing a blank... i will begin work on the trims right away here, but i am really stuck for ideas for more detail on the walls... <!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->

    I think that the piping behind the grating is a really nice touch.  I think that one thing you might be able to work on is the lighting.  Maybe if you try and accent certain areas, like the command center, and darken other areas, like the steam pipe, the room might start to look really great.   ====>>  Which brings me to another point.  Where is the light actually coming from?  Adding some lights would definitely be a good thing.  heh.

    that broken pipe seems strange, it's like that end, that's hanging down, is detached from the pipe, and it kinda floats in the air. yeah work soem more on the lightning, glad you changed that cieling-texture.

    heh, there <b>are</b> lights, but i just realised that you can't see them in any of the pics that i've posted, but they are there, trust me <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->  and as for the pipe, is is connected, but i just did a really poor job of making the textures line up, i'll fix that right away here, also, some light is coming from the console itself, there's a blue-ish light from the top, and a greenish-blue flickering from the bottom....
