Bodom Beach Terror

guilty found?
In Finland, about 40 years ago there was this triple homicide, where 3 kids two of which were 15-year-old girls, and a 18-year-old guy were brutally killed with a large knife at Lake Bodom whilst sleeping in a tent. The killer has been found after the 40 years of inspecting and the whole thing is getting sensible. The guy who did it is now like a 60-year-old dude who was apparently the 4th member of the kids at the beach, who was claimed "to be able to run away from the killer" and was found stuttering, bloody and wounded at the beach. He had lived his life law abiding and as if nothing had ever happened but now the police got him and he's going through the courtesies of law at the moment.

I had never even heard about the whole thing before my girlfriend explained about it yesterday, and after that I also got the idea of the name of the Finnish death metal band Children of Bodom (The topic is also a title of one of their songs).

This really tells it's not a whole myth that the police can actually be able to solve stuff that seems unsolvable even after a long time eh

So THAT'S where the name Children Of Bodom comes from....... oh, and they're power metal, not death metal.

Bit strange that it took them some 40 years to solve it? I hope that if i'm ever murdered, it doesn't take 40 years.

yeah, how did they figure it out? Did they just wake up and think "hey the 4th kid did it" ?

Apparently this means, don't trust friends (supposing they're friends to go camping together)

Well, we had a case here in denmark about some stolen books from the royal library (around 15$ million dollars, I think) that wasnt solved for around 45 years ago. Now recently the case has been solved and the books have been returned

Like Coby said, a lot of really old crimes (rapes and muders, especially) aren't solved until new technologies come along.

And Esuna, there is a wild difference between power and death metal man, listen to stratovarius, the name of Finnish POWER metal, then compare to the name of Finnish DEATH metal CoB

Metal's metal. Sub-genres are superfluous in this case.

I disagree, metal is not "just metal" the genre's quite varied.

erm, chances are they'd suspected the 4th kid from the very very start, and suspected him the entire time. they just couldn't find any/enough evidence to make it stick. im pretty sure crpl [sp?] davis [if someone asks him to post here ] would confirm that its rarely that the final criminal is much different than the suspected one. its all about presenting and having the evidence. unless im wrong here...

have they come out with a motive yet? sounds like an odd thing to do

'so, you murdered 3 of your friends with a large knife' 'yes' 'on the beach, with a large knife' 'yes' 'slaughtered them...' 'yes' '... why?' 'well, ill tell you why, it all began when-' *SPLURGH* 'argh, me heart!' *thump*

Tsk tsk dude. Don't undermine me when it comes to metal. ^_^

I say it's power metal because it's not heavy, and not like death metal at all. The vocals are more akin to black metal if anything, and the music is definately closer to the likes of Old Man's Child or at an extreme push, Rhapsody.

    I know my metal dude.

Me too esuna and I can for one say it is not Power metal. My friend listens to mostly power metal (I call it wuss metal) and I definetly can tell the style. On the other hand, sure you can discuss about their deathy form, I can't say it's pure death metal mostly cause they use them damn synthetisizers, which then reflects to black metal, and lyrics aren't THAT far away from the rock'n'roll/death style..

Yeah. They have the blood splattered tent from the site. Apparently the DNA samples can be taken from very old bloodstains too.

So... They didn't choose extinction. They just chose to wait for better days and cloning technology. Pretty smart mammoths, if you ask me.

Yes they do. The police still have the tent where those youngsters were murdered.

The fourth guy said that he didn't remember a thing after the crime, and he still says that he simply doesn't remember a thing.

I believe the term "proper music" doesn't exist: it's just merely "music that suits one's tastes" there's nothing wrong about singing about "warriors of light" it's not more wrong than singing about "Angels of Death" it's just a matter of preference, and pleasing the ear of its listener. In fact, the world would be a much better place if people didn't start "omg he listens to [insert "bad" artist here] he must be ****" but just let them be.

sorry I didn't mean satanic (Manson type), I meant more like evil as it seems "warriors of light" = wuss while "death metal" = cool and manly. However where I come from, there's nothing wrong with not preferring killing over other stuff.

Note: I don't listen ONLY to power metal; in fact, I don't stick to genres but rather to artists/songs themselves. That means I range from Classical (yes, a few of them) to Death Metal (that's right, I'm also a Slayer fan) while also enjoying Grunge, Grind, Whatever-you-call-it, almost anything, and of course Power Metal. Yet that also means there's stuff I totally hate about each of these genres as well; it's more like pleasing to MY OWN EAR rather than having my image pleasing to people judging music genres and their listeners.
