This is how it ended out.. DONT dare to ask for the PC lol...

    considering that its my first serious weapon, im actually proud, not about the PC though, but does it matter?     you should try again, but using extrude, its easier and will but down on ALOT of pc

    Yeah. Extruding and cutting polygons is probably a better idea, unless you plan on adding some type of object like a scope. 8 Sided cylinders are fine for long barrels like that, but their end faces need quite a bit of polys, but if the gun faces away, you can always just cut that face out. Then again you said this isn't gonna be a game model, so...

    BTW, not bad for a first serious gun model attempt.

    that is a really sweet lookin gun, but all the edges make it look bad, if you started over and used extrude instead of making new blocks and stuff it would cut it way down.

    also a question, is it possible to weld vertexs together in milkshape?

    ...lol, i remember when i first got 3dsmax and my first model was a goofy lookin cylinder/sphere man....it was pathetic, but this isn't. cheers ^_^

    btw, if you do a handful of optimizations, send it my way. maybe i could help you get it meshed and skinned and who knows? perhaps throw it in game just for the hell of it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    yes, in milkshape you can weld vertexes together, im assuming you mean instead of having 2 vertexes floating around over each other, you make them into one, thats called "snap together," ctrl n i think, and i think its in the vertexes tab, if there far apart it will make them join at the center, you can also make the whole model smooth by selecting it all and "welding together," which is also in the vertexes tab, i dunno tho, im not that great with milkshape....

    my english teacher would kill me for that ^

    this is a very solid first weapon... keep it up

    as a note, my first model was a block... (the concept was one too, thanks sid!)... but it was my baby!

    when you learn a few tricks, you'll be able to cot down the polys to something around what Aka'lamanaia said...

    your gun is not as n00b as mine was... keep it up and you'll get better.
