    Battleforthegalaxy is a large tournament of sorts...

    Instead of a bunch of battles on maps that have no connection to each other, marines and aliens play against each other on a large "map" of the planets, asteroids, stations, etc, each corresponding to a map. Winning one map can give you the upper hand, and losing can do the opposite =)
