...Like Astrowars...sortof
[edit] Scroll down for a very basic overview of the game
So, there's the cool Astrowars Beta 5, which is in the middle (sortof) of its round. It's fairly exciting, and pretty easy to pick up, but there's also Dominion - if you want medieval/fantasy based internet, updated-by-the-hour games
Dominion has a lot more options in strategy and attack and it's a fundamentally different game (I know there's probably a bunch of 1hour-update internet games, but most of the ones I've found are sub-par compared to Dominion and Astrowars.
I played it a long time ago and have managed to forget how to play mostly, so I was wondering if anyone would want to start/play in a realm.
Round 23 starts at around midnight CST (...I think -6 hours from GMT). There's some information about how the game works on the main page main page and then you can click on Read the Rules to learn about building and stuff.
Realm size is 10 dominions (it was 20 before), and there is the possibility of diplomacy between dominions (if for some reason there were more than 10 people that wanted to play, we could split them in half and make 2 or something).
Anybody want to do this? The beginning of the round is midnight (rounds last 7 weeks).
[one significant difference between Dominion and Astrowars would be the pop-ups, Dominion has a couple, but it is fairly remedied by the fact that they're required to keep the site going, and you can get daily bonus of 15 land and 4x your peasants for doing stuff]

edit: whats the group id and password if you made a group?
and a group ID of 13415
Password: lorkclorf
Group ID: 13415
I also took an evil race, which might not really be suitable with everyone else (but really, if you're starting human/nomad probably works best, but it's fun to try others, undead/spirit is supposed to be good too).
I can only reserve 5 spot (but I think more people can use the group password and ID to join), the realms aren't decided until midnight (and thus, I'd assume if more people jointhe group by midnight, we'd get them too).
It doesn't seem like there's a big influx of players anyway .
[edit] I can't log in until 4 more people join the group, so I'm not sure if other people in the group can either, Of course, if there's not enough people by 11pm or something I'll just delete the extra spots.
The game is like a turn based strategy game that advances every hour (...like Astrowars).
You start by picking your race [when you sign up] (which has different benefits based on just race and the units between each race is different too). Each race also gets one unique magic spell. I suggest opening the race window and the military window to compare the effects to which you think would be the most fun.
You'll be given a new plot of land (...when the round starts) and you have 72 hours until you can no longer be attacked (which is actually how it is, no matter when you join). During this time you want to build your military, train your spies and ready your wizards.
You're given various resources:
Food (feeds your peasants - created at farms and to a lesser extent, at docks)
Platinum (recruits your military; used for buildings, exploring; improves your castle - basic money unit; created by alchemies)
Lumber (used for building construction; improves your castle at 2x the worth of platinum - created by lumberyards)
Ore (used for some military units; improvesyour castle at the same rate as lumber - created by mines [and by one of the dwarf units])
Gems (used for castle improvements; the most efficent way to trade for food at the 'market' - obtained from gem mines).
Mana (used to cast spells, offensive and defensive - created at Towers)
You build your military by getting platinum (and ore, for many of the races). Then you create units according to their price and the number of draftees you have (you can adjust your draft rate for more or less draftees to train into military units, but then you might not get full employment in your buildings).
Peasants work in your buildings that you construct (there are quite a few of them, ranging from ones that increase your attack power, give you research points, increase your castle bonuses...you'd really have to check the rules, they have a nice table), creating your various resources.
There's also a tech tree which I know very little about because I didn't have enough research points to research anything (tech that increase your offensive power by 5% and stuff)...and it didn't exist during Round 7 when I first played.
There are also spies/thieves you train and use to gather information on people you plan to attack. You can also steal their various resources (platinum, lumber, ore and gems) to hinder their progress.
You also have wizards that run on your mana, they are able to cast spells that aid your realm (increase platinum production, show you who's using spies against you, etc.) and attack spells (fireballs, floods, plagues, etc.) that hamper other dominions and make your attack easier, or just slow them down.
Once you get good production going (which should probably happen before your 72 hours), you just need to start looking for targets, building your defenses or helping your realm.
Interacting with your realm is probably the most fun part. The 10 dominions in the realm have their own message board where they can post target dominions to attack, discuss realm politics or post whatever there want. The board is moderated by the King of the realm.
The king is elected by a majority vote by everyone in the Realm (yay, Democracy). He can declare states of peace and war with other realms (which give you defense and offense bonuses versus said Realms). He also names the realm and does some other things.
You can also join the Elite guard which will make you pay a 2% tax on your platinum but limits people that can attack you (and that you can attack) to 50%-133% your size, and can be upgraded further to 66%-125% (or something close to those percentages...it's just nice when you have a lot of land or don't want to be attacked as much).
Okay, there's a bunch more to know, but hopefully this will let some of the lazy people (like myself, so I'm surprised I wrote that much ) to consider joining.
Remember, just set up your dominion, you just register and set your Realm to join a group and enter the:
Password: lorkclorf
Group ID: 13415
(it says there're 4 group specific spots left)
[edit] Er, yep, I stole the werewolves...sorry ...I was lizard men last time, and they're cool because they don't need boats to transport troops, but I wanted to convert people on attacks and be ...werewolves, heh. I could restart the group if you really want, then I could be the Lizards again or something.
(honestly, I didn't really expect many people since Dominion is medieval base and Astrowars is Sci-fi (ie, Natural Selection-ish). 3 specific spots are left (well, obviously, since only 2 other people have responded, heh).

Registration is open. The round begins Sunday, and lasts the usual 7 weeks.

So, I'm not sure if I'll have to make the group again or not, but it does mean there's a larger window for us to create a Natural Selection based Realm. So, if anyone wants to still join, they could try using the afforementioned team login, if it doesn't work, then we can disband and re-register to make sure we're all together (to conquer all the non-NS fools ).
Sorry to UnderDog and Petco in advance if we have to re-register (don't really expect anymore people anyway ). Of course, if we don't get the 72 hours of protection, it would make sense to re-register anyway, not sure how that'll work.
If nothing else, you guys can log in and check out most of the interface.
