<div class="IPBDescription">very good comm question</div> First of all i'm not a noob to NS, but do have a semi-noobish question.
I was studying byte comparisons that are sent by commander when i came across the following file:
<a href='http://homepage.ntlworld.com/pr.searle/nsnet/2.01/SetOrder.html' target='_blank'>http://homepage.ntlworld.com/pr.searle/nsn...1/SetOrder.html</a>
<i><span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>(click link, read text come back for question)</span></i>
The question is kinda hard to concisely put in words. But u know how u can click things to make waypoints, different kinds of wapoints. (ie. the types described in file) You standard wapoint is the "move to wapoint soldier" one. But i'd be nice to have a reliable bind that allow me to one click different types of wapoints.
In other words, I will have a commander.cfg file that I shall execute when I jump in comm chair that will re-bind my mouse's 5 buttons to being diff types of wapoints that way I can easily tell my commrads on the field what to build when to weld and defend structures. Instead of the plain ol' "move" wapoint, i can use attack target, defend, weld. This is a much better form of dynamic and visual communication. I can give out much more detailed communication this way.
<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>So the grand question is "How." How do i have these different waypoint types? How do i group marines into squads? How do i select all marines or tell different squads to go different places at same time? How do i change "code status" (mines, green, yellow, red)?</span>
Go ahead and "throw the book at me," i want to learn everything there is to know about waypointing. Tell me everything, anything. Damn this kind of info should be in the FAQ. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->
PS: <i>Let's just talk about NS v2.01 at first or this will get confusing</i>
<b>thanx all</b>

The different types of WPs are normally given out via clicking on the right spot - like a weldable, a structure or an alien. Especially clicking on Aliens is a PITA to do though.
If you do get it to work though, tell me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
The different "codes" have never worked, and this is actually pointed out on the website you gave.
To group marines into squads, select them, and press Ctrl+#, where # is a number 1-5. Note that if you have custom controls, replace "Ctrl" with your crouch key.
Also note that you can put your arms lab, obs, or any other buiding into squads too. To talk to one squad only, press the appropriate number, (to select the squad,) and hold your shift key while you give orders. (Crouch key for those who customise.)
Note (again,) that squad 5 is the "best" squad, while squad 1 is the "least good" (to be politically correct. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->) This makes no actuall in-game difference, unless the rines in quad 5 feel important so perform better. Little do they know squads 1-3 are taken up with arms lab, proto and obs...
Phase at?

without mic and with waypoints, you get the job done like 4/10 times. same with mic and without waypoints. 8/10 with both, at least from my experience
<span style='font-size:17pt;line-height:100%'><b>^^</span></b>
squad 5 was an inside joke with the PT's, and then simple becuase the guy says "YOUR SQUAD 5" with alot of enthusiasim it rubs off onto the players ^_~
Clans are the only option as I see it...
"Build Offense Chamber", or "Build Hive" were always fun waypoints to give out too <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
