when you have the fire anim, you could have like boxes coming from offscreen really fast into their positions, with the muzzleflash texture on, then flying off again

you cant make sprites long.. theyre 2 dimensional...
you could create the illusion of it coming out of holes, but it would be hard to make it actually come from the holes ( ie, i could make an X shaped muzzle flash simpulating a crazy flash doolie, but i couldnt make the parts pop out of another part, other then the originally defined spot)

yeah i thought about that. would this be possible though? to create your own sprite and then add it in?
you can do it wht the transparent textures like cookie said... but not with actual sprites...
