Skeletal Mishaps

<div class="IPBDescription">Skeleton mashing default anims to goo</div> Well.. my limited character animation skills are starting to show :-/

Im animating a Starcraft HA marine, but I have a problem. The problem is that the default HA skeleton (that I need to use to get the default anims) is stuck in the aiming-with-knife position and the mesh I was given is standing straight up. Now I have no real experience in giving a model a skeleton but I tried anyway. I made it into a bipedal skeleton, and what should be the default HA standin around anim is now the picture shown below. Ouch. Anyone know of a tutorial about this sort of thing?

    that's what happens when you tweak the reference skeleton, and not the rest of the sequence animations...

    bones are the same, so it compiles, but the skeletons aren't, so they produce what you see there...

    dont change the skeleton 1 little bit or you get what you got there, its best to fit the model to the skeleton

    For the life of me, I cant figure out how theyre doing it. This is my first attempt at giving a model a skeleton, and Ive looked at tons of other custom models to see how its done but I dont understand. They have skeletons that differ wildly from the pose of the decompiled HA, but they have the normal NS animations! I tried to do this, meeting with disaster (as shown above, urk). Anyone know of this? Helping me will let me get better you know, then I'll be able to assist more modelers <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    what models are you looking at? maybe the creator is just a great reskeletonizer...

    I looked at alot, including the Starcraft marines and Brigadiers custom marine pack
    All use the default anims, but they have custom skeletons. And its just serving to confuse the hell out of me

    are you sure they have custom skeletons? i thought they had old ones.
