Weird Sound Problems

<div class="IPBDescription">weird sound problems</div> well to start off the problems I would have is that in the middle of the game the sound works but goes slow and an exammple is it sounds like this.
llllllliiiiiifffffeeeeefoooorrrrrrmmmmsssss uuuuunnnnnnddddddeeeeerrrr aaaaattttaaaacccckkkkk!!!!
something like that. also when a regular person is talking on the mic it sounds like that too in slow motion. it would do this for 30 mins and then back to normal. then recently there was a new driver for my sound card and now the sound just cuts off completely and when I exit both NS and Steam the sound is still off. This does not happen in any other game but NS and that is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. My specs are as follows:
ABIT AN7 w/built in sound (nforces2)
ATI Radeon 9200
512 Megs DDR RAM
80 Gig Maxtor HD 8 MB Cache
Road Runner

1) Turn on/off Eax.
2) Upgrade/downgrade Drivers.
