<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>For the uninformed: </span>
Astrowars is a web-based game (not unlike Kings of Chaos, Utopia,
Planetia, and those type games, but much less complex), where you manage an empire -
you start out with 1 planet, and spread out into the galaxy from there, conquering other
empires, colonizing free planets, forming alliances, and other things.
It's fairly fun (read: addictive), and only requires a few logins of 5 to 15 minutes a day to
maintain your empire. It's a game that is not designed to replace other games, but something
to waste a few minutes here and there.
I'd encourage you to read <a href='http://www.astrowars.com/about/' target='_blank'>about</a> it a little, as well as reading the <a href='http://www.astrowars.com/about/faq/' target='_blank'>FAQ</a>
posted on their site.

Typically each round lasts from 2 to 3 months; beta 5 was a little shorter because of some
new features added which made scoring points a lot easier for some people.
If you're interested in joining, make sure to help fellow NS'ers out by using their referrer links -
it gives them a small culture boost every day.

Summary: Basically, a team deathmatch next round between two or more huge alliances, spanning the galaxy. Alot of players were dissatisfied because it seems like no one wants to fight anymore, and war isn't a big part of AstroWARS anymore.

Just trying to get a feel for who would be interested in taking part in it; I for one think it will be a great deal of fun and am signing up for it. So far a lot of people seem interested in it, and it would be sweet if the NS community could get in on the action <img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' />

So basically since the current round is almost over, I figured we should decide what we're doing next beta. Since the whole "splitting up of alliances" didn't pan out too well, and we ended up having people spread out all over the place and in like 6 different alliances, maybe we should consider grouping back into one big huge TSA next round.

Thoughts?

I'm going to join next round (...can't play online games here, ping sucks). Not sure if I want to be in a giant alliance war...it might be kind of annoying, especially if you're not really powerful, or get stuck next to a bunch of the other team.

The losing side will probably not want to play as much either. Still going to play...just don't know about the idea (I also think it's more like AstroBuildaBigStarbase, not just AstroBuild.

well, one of the proposed ideas was that you got points for holding planets in the Rana (0,0) system, and planets in systems close to it. So there would be no way for someone to magically "buildabigstarbase" there, since it would be under constant attack.

No offense to anyone in the NS/TSA alliances but I always do a lot better with TGD, plus Ive played wit them A LOT more over the past 2 betas.

Well I will be joining the TSA (or maby NSA) next round!

Offensive's RvB thing sounds good but it simply CANT work without AR's help. unless everyone who signs up for it magicaly spawns near eachother it will simply be a couple reds and a couple blues fighting it out in isolated pockets before a bigger player comes along and eats them.

With a bit of support it sounds like it could work great though.

I'm not sure about being in the TSA/NS next round.

I had a great time with ISA and working in cooperation with TSA - whilst the ISA alliance may not be around next beta I just don't know if I agree with the morals of some of the TSA leadership........

What is the TSA structure? Is there a voted leadership or self-proclaimed people in charge?

Communication, will there be a dedicated user forum - will members ber expected to have aim etc to encourage communication?

I would like to know the TSA opinion of NAPS, MAPS etc

I'm undecided what race setting to choose. I will probably take a -2 or -3 hit to speed and take a bonus to culture/growth. Not sure whether to take any attack/defense tweaks.
