nice! my first thought was 'god HL looks old' but the maps look well done =3 use the ut2k4 engine
Healthwise why not either...
a) make the HP a heartrate monitor ala RE b) make people die instantly so you don't need to worry about health and combat is more scary XD c) if it was 3rd person you could've shown the 'health' through the character's animations use the ut2k4 engine
Personally I find the less HUD there is the more 'involving' the game feels ^^

What about a health/stamina system that works something like this.
You have two types of injury. Serious and minor. Serious injuries would permanently remove from your HP, and hit your Stamina harshly. Minor injuries would only hit your stamina bar, and if possible, temporary HP loss. Stamina would slowly recover. And it would be great if you could slowly recover from minor injuries. However, serious injuries would require medical attention. (And don't go throwing those medical supplies all over the place.) Being wounded would hit your stamina bar the hardest. When your stamina is down, you would preform slower, and if possible, when stamina is very low, you could throw in an effect similar to the Conc grenades in TFC.
The maps look very well done, but to me (even though my opinion doesn't matter that much) it doesn't have the certain creepy feel.
I'll use Thief as an example. In the catacomb levels, with the nearly indestructable zombies, I looked around at the walls and rock formations and thought, "I really don't want to be here." It was unnerving, but in a way that worked.
Another thing I'd suggest is finding a way to contrast. Allow me to try and get my meaning across.
In Thief, there was a level in the mines where, again, there were zombies. What made it most uncomfortable for me was not the fact that it was dark and dangerous, but that in some places I could see the pure blue sky above, making me really, really wish I could just go there.
First of all.. wow The maps have had a whole lot of effort put into them, and the detail is amazing... I only hope you style the storyline and action so the player uses and appreciates the map, not just as a box packaging for waypoints. If you get what I'm trying to get across...
Although I'm not too excited about the models and the viewscreen... the playermodel's hand/arm and gun looks like your basic crappy "military modification" model. Although i'm not really into horrors too much, especially if you're all alone , but I am looking for the people who will bother to add a player model to your bottom... you can look down and see your stomach and pants, even when you're looking straight ahead you can see all of your arms and get an impression of your body, and maybe even a blurred transparent 'nose' image... :| Ah well, hopeless dreaming I guess..
Depending on what characters you're looking for with voice acting, I might be an option [male]. And it sounds like you're having some troubles with storyline, and the whole 'experience'... well I can really help with that. I'll keep an eye on this thread for replies concerning me, if you're interested, or want to hear more.
Even if you don't use me, keep it up. Every single person who has ever played a game has an idea how to make it perfect. But it takes something more to get up and change the world. Kudos, and if you ever think of giving it up, if you're not going to give it up to aim for something higher, don't bother. Keep going.
Well, the designs are pro, but they'd look even more awesome if you take Geminosity's advice and use the UT2k4 engine.
Or we could stick to the Half-Life engine and not have to re-write 100% of the work
I think you could [and should] port it over to another engine, the effort will be worth it.
Because remember, if you use the HL engine, whatever you put forward for download, will still be 5 years old before it hits the www. Everybody loves HL, but that's because of the gameplay it offers(offered?). The mods were good for their time, and focused on gameplay. And to be honest, I just don't think a graphically-focused mod will work. I'm not saying you're 'graphics first, gameplay later' oriented, but you have focused a lot on graphics, and since it looks like you've mostly done models and maps, why not just consider waiting, and moving to another engine, one that can support your graphical needs, and still leave you open for gameplay, because in the end.. gameplay is what you make it. It has nothing to do with the engine.
I dont think that an engine-change is necessary. I've played the MOD, and it's already great. I fear that an engine-chance might delay the MOD way too much, since all maps has to be converted, all models and so on. So I'd say stick to the engine and aim for a pretty fast release. (when is the demo planned to be released btw?)

That castle map really reminds me of a DOD map that i can't remember the name of, but i still love it.
I've done tiny bits and pieces of soundwork from time to time, and i really do need the motivation to practice it. contact me if you need my supahsuckehsoundskillz.

Looking back, this post makes almost no sense.
To this, I respond with a resounding "Meh".
