<div class="IPBDescription">no internet connection, can it be done?</div> Hello, im planning on going to a lan party which currently has not net connection and i would like to introduce players to ns.

My problem is steam, is it capable of running a server with out a net connection?

I have tried the search and i havent brought up any info relivent to my question.

All i want is ns to run, no other mods.

Thanks

It shouldn't anymore, a past steam update was supposed to add lan capability

The only problem is you have to make sure everyone's steam install is completely up to date.

So is there a way i can download all the files i need to get all the client running?

I want to host a charity lan and invite kids to play ns3.0 steam but it seams there will be a problem if i download steam cache and ns3.0 files client V1 b1 and b2 and b3 files they will still need to install them all then connect to the net somhow to update steam correct?

I was hoping all they would have to bring is there computer, a copy of half life and there key and they would be away but if we NEED a internet connection to update there copies of steam i guess ns is out of the playlist.

You know, I've heard that you can just zip up somone's content folder and just extract it to each computer you want to play on. The thing is, I'm not sure if this is right or not since I haven't tried it myself.
