Howdy, i was wondering if you guys(the developers) were looking for modelers. my old man is toying with the modeling profession and hes going back to art school to learn about modeling. so i was wondering, maybe if you guys are still working on NS or any other Unknown Worlds games in 3 years(when he gets out of art school), then maybe he could model some pistols or something and email it to you and apply for a job <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Look, if you're dad is good, then he should apply himself, he doesn't need you to pimp him out. Most likely, you probably don't know the extent of your dad's profession or skill, so please, don't try to interfere with his business.

As Rapier mentioned, letting all of us here in General Discussion know about your father's return to art school is somewhat indirect. Don't feel discouraged at all, though: you can still help get the attention of the right people by pointing him to the site for Flayra's new company, <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/' target='_blank'>Unknown Worlds Entertainment</a>.

True, only two job openings are specifically listed as being open right now, but look at this: <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Even if we're not currently looking for someone with your skills, feel free to apply anyways (we'll be hiring up a storm soon enough).<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> In other words, tell your father to continue resharpening his skills so he can prepare a resume to send (the address is also on the website).

If you dad is just going to art school now he would probably be learning something like 3D Studio Max and newer programs, not HL models

I'd bet that a good few of the guys with hot stuff on the custom forum right now use 3D Studio Max all but exclusivly. HL uses modeling tequnieques that are pretty much industry standard to this date (make a 3D model and wrap a skin around it), they are just simpler then the models in most of the newer games because the HL engine is built to run on a wide variaty of machines.

His dad can work for them for free. This will help his dad by giving him experience and creating a model for a huge game like this will really help in finding a job. In the art world like marketing, these guys will create a huge book of ideals and examples before they even get a job to show the companies what they will do. Its not like the ns people are making tons of money where they can bring in top people.

I'm surprised Marik left this open. Basically, best of luck to your father, but I'm sure he'll be able to file his application himself.
