i like it personally so i will try and skinmesh and skin it

any ideas on how to improve the model?

sorry for the crappy pictures, milkshape sucks to show it and there is nothing to render a unfinished md3

well the thing slides back so it shows the barrel on the empty clip...

in gmax everything looks alot better, is it just milkshape?

    ill round the grip too...

yeah... if i must i will get rid of it eventually

im not really worried about polycount because my machine is fine and the polycount is still around 1000

im sorry i just cant look at that and say it looks nice... have you tried modeling off pictures or concepts? have you gone through tutorials? when i look at that i see triangles all over and its all unproportionate and stuff... it may just be the pictures... but i dont know... keep practicing though, youll get it down in no time

i wonder if there are any good gmax tuts

adding some smoothing groups would fix those triangles

are you modelling poly by poly?
  • chadypuchadypu Join Date: 2004-04-15 Member: 27951Members, Reinforced - Shadow
well i usually do a semi-complex shape and fix it later

poly by poly would be better though, right?

usually for people new to modelling if you do poly by poly it doesnt turn out the best. much more chance of getting face errors. what i do is make a simple shape and then extrude it or add polies or more simple shapes.

alright here is my masterfull techinique of modeling alright kiddies that want to be like me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> get out your notepads this equation will save your life
    only works in 3dsmax

    linetool + extrude + chamfer + autosmooth = a chrono model
