<div class="IPBDescription">When ns is released</div>I thought this might intrest some people that are thinking about renting a NS server, when it is released.

I asked <a href="http://www.recongamer.com" target="_blank"> Recon Gamer </a>how soon it would be for them to be able to supprt NS and this was the reply:

"Recon Gamer can support virtually any half-life mod. We recommend simply ordering a standard Half-Life Deathmatch server. Once your game server is activated, simply send us an email with a *direct* link to the mod install file, or upload the install file to your game server, and we will install it for you.

Hope this helps some of you out.

I have a Recon Gamer server and must say that for the most part I have been happy with it. A couple outages, which was due to a denial of service attack, but other then that I have been happy.

A private 20 player server runs about $25 a month, while a public 20 player runs $85 I think.

    I think you mean Public runs $85 <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

An intriguing offer. I might want to run a Readyroom.org private server, but post the password on the main page. Verrry interesssting...

Recon gamer has some steep prices! Id go with <a href="http://www.efrags.com" target="_blank">www.eFrags.com</a>

They have way cheaper prices, and of course any game server company that is any good will install any mod you want..

The price difference is not that much, considering if you pay for 5 months you get 1 free. The private servers are the same and the pub servers are like $5 more a month, considering the month free.

Recon Gamer has been around a while longer, which is a good thing.

For the highest quality, I'd recommend NuclearFallout servers (<a href="http://rentals.nuclearfallout.net" target="_blank">http://rentals.nuclearfallout.net</a>), but then again maybe I'm biased <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->. I'm betting we could support NS.

recon gamer is a ripoff price wise, although quality wise they can't be beat...so I've heard.

I am renting from oktogone.net also. these guys host HLRally site and moddb.net and I;ve been in touch with them lots, doing ping tests and all that and seem like quality servers run by great guys, even discounts for me <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Recon Gamer is a bit steap. I wonder if Jolt.co.uk will host. That way it's midbetween US and Europe, balancing the latency (or maybe not).

Oktagon seemed to have nice prices, allthough I'mnot happy that they don't bring information on the system specs of their servers (or am I just blind?).

They are more practical and don't post the specs. As a comsumer of their service I'm only worried about having low pings, and you can get low pings on a p3-500 with 128 megs of ram and a p4-3GHZ with 2 gigs of ram. So, in realizty the specs don't matter as long as you don't experience high latency.

Anyway, not to preach I'm just telling you the pov I look at it from.

I did find out what the server specs were after putting two and two together based on some revealing info on their website. They get servers from rackshack.net, specs are as follows...

    1.7 GHZ P4
    512MB SDRAM RAM
    40 GB Hard Drive

Recon Gamer is a rip off? They have private 20 player servers for $30 a month and their 20 player pub servers are $84. Compared to most known server rental places they are very resonable.

Pings are always great and no crashes, that I have seen yet. I have 2 servers with them. I switched to them after trying one of the other places that offer servers for $50 for 20 player pub. It had bad lag issues.

Well I could always skip foodshopping one of the weeks every month to pay for the game server...

In my opinion, entertaining isn't worth that much. Atleast not for personal purposes.

I just talked to Recon Gamer and now they are saying they CAN'T provide servers. It eats to much CPU for them to rent them.
