Mb Problems
<div class="IPBDescription">Erm.</div> Ive had this motherboard for a few years now a KT133a, or 633ASULTRA for you know it alls.
It started out ok, but after about a year it started resetting itself, it only did this once or twice so i considered it a minor problem and let it be. Now its been about 3 years and the problem has gotten considrable worse, it resets 5+ times before it becomes stable enough to use.
Now ive checked to see if its anything to do with hardware plugged into the MB aswell as my HD and windows and non of that is the problem.
Now ive check viarena since its a via motherboard chipset and at least 2 people have the same problem but with no solution, after about 20 mins of running stable it resets, and resets over again. I also get the od cmos error that goes with these resets.
Now my first thought was overheating but the CPU is running at the same temp as when i first got it, and another guy with the same problem posted that he had 3 fans and still had the problem, ive tryed lots of diffrent bios settings with the same result. The problem also does not seem to be related to anything sometimes the computer works fines, others its a nightmare.
Now after reading through my motherboard book i notice the cmos is saved by a battery as is the computer clock, now my clock is still fine with no errors so i was wondering if the battery going could cause these problems?
Bascially im posting to see if anyone else has the same issue with the same board and if they have ever found a way to fix it, any ideas are welcome since i really do not wish to have to go out and buy a new board thats out a date for my old system.
