you will go into the options menu. there, you will be given a chance to customize 2 classes. both the light marine and the skulk. changing the characteristics will change all classes or lifeforms. anyways, you will be given a few points. say maybe, 20 points for each race. there, you will be able to put points into a few characteristics. these characteristics for marines will include
power
speed
power is a sub category. when opened up, these options will come up:
power-
-damage with lmg
-damage with hmg
-damage with knife
-damage with gl
-damage with hand grenade
speed is a sub category too.
speed-
-running speed
-jumping height
-rate of fire
-reload time
-noise from running sound
-build time
this will be the options for marines. each category has a max of 10 points put in. each category starts at 0. now you can say "but a level 10 lmg will own everything in the beginning". right, but all those 10 points will reduce you to having very low speed and agility. not to mention a slow rate of fire. now for the aliens. aliens will have the same categories too.

-damage with 3rd slot
-damage with 4th slot
speed-
-running speed or flying speed
-jumping height
-rate of fire (rate of attack, iono)
-enery consumption
-noise
-build time
-resources intake (i dont know about this one)
once again, all start at 0, and you have a max or 20 points that you can put in. also, constellation members will be given an extra 2 points. or maybe more, i really dont know. i was also thinking that this could be done through a website. like you put everything you want, and your steam id. then on the next patch, everything is put in and your stuck with it. if you want to change it, you will have to wait till the next patch. or you can set everything to default if you really hate your build. but if you do, you cant customize until the next patch. what do you guys think?

a beginner installs NS, and is prompted with this big screen asking him to pick his points... he has absolutely no idea what he is doing, but goes for all out power on the heavy machine gun cause it sounds gooood
he then gets in game, and finds that in this patch, hmg's are terrible and are never used.. he is at a major disadvantage and he hasn't even started playing the game
people who pay more money get a better starting role than others? good job encouraging people not to bother playing the game (at an estimate ball-park figure, i'd have said 99% of people play mods because they are free ...)
The BUS must be smthing else, i think it would be really unexpected xD
Ns is better than any retail game ive gotten in the past year.

why get rid of the option for knife. that would make no sense. secondly, whats this "people who pay more money" thing that you are talking about? im talking about constellation members. if you pay $20 dollars to constellation, you get an extra point. that ok now? i never said that you will have to pay for ns. please quote where i said that. thirdly, your points will be at thier default. DEFAULT. this should solve the n00b problem. if you leave it at thier default, then you will be able to play the game like now. if you WANT to customize, then you are givin the option to. please read the WHOLE post first, ok.
