Egg Health

make it so if an egg takes damage the damage does effect the creature coming out. so if egg hp is 200/150 and a skulks health is 70/10 make it so if the eggs health is 100/75 when the skulk comes out its health should be 35/5 or something of that sort.(not great mathmatician so correct me on ratio of eggs hp/skulks hp if im wrong)

how nice would it be to be an egg gestating to an onos, and someone shoots you down to 5% health as you finish? coming out as an onos with 150 health and no armor is a waste of 75 res, which is the reason they changed it to not effect the evoling alien inside the egg.

Ford, by your logic, eggs should be invincible.

I always thought it would be an interesting touch to make a health penalty if you're hurt but not killed during gestating. However, what if instead of a health penalty, the gestation took longer? When you consider what the gestation would be like for a higher-level being like the Kharaa, they probably wouldn't leave gestation badly wounded, but instead would fix their wounds. Of course, there'd need to be a limit, so a marine couldn't hold you in gestation by knifing your egg constantly.

Already reported as a bug. Damage and healing you receive while an egg does not effect the lifeform you gestate into. This IS a bug and should be fixed.

You should be very careful where you gestate. You can't expect that you can evolve into an onos in the middle of a hallway, and when a marine comes around the corner, you are magically saved. Evolve into big lifeforms only at hives, with other aliens or OCs covering you.

I think it's supposed to work like you suggested but doesn't. I think it's in the bug list somewhere.

You cant always know what someone is gestating into, but sometimes you can guess.

If its a skulk, just wait til he comes out then blast him.

If its anything larger, pound away; they take long enough to gestate. If he pops, too bad, you had your chance.

I like this egg system really.

I like the egg system now. Eggs are designed to protect thier contents and be discarded later, just like it is now.

But they aren't eggs, they're pupas or whatever and the thing is that the marines are shooting through the shell into the creature. Under normal circumstances, the creature would probably be okay. But with marines, the creature does get hurt.

If a marine catches you gestating into an onos and lowers you down to that amoutn of health, he probably already used his usefull ammo just trying to do that. He may have a full pistol left or enough to kill you, but with the hive healing you or surrounding DCs, you'll ahve enough health to survive and smash his face intot eh wall and then smear his body on the floor and play kick ball with his skull.

I hope egg sizes change if you are gestating in something different.

Pretty weird seeing a mini egg that explodes magicly into an Onus.

    Yeah, that'd be really fun - now the super-vulnerable Onos egg gets a huge hitbox too <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Like eggs are hard to hit anyway. Its funny some times if you get redem and you get attacked as a egg it will save your egg and toss you back in the hive.

Egg, pupa, its the same differnce. It doesn't remain a part of the creature. It's still designed to be a temporary protection that is discarded when it is no longer useful.

By your logic you should be able to kill a marine before he teleports fully into the infantry portal

it's sad when you load 45 bullets into the egg, then it comes out with full hp. if the alien is stupid enough to gestate in an open place, it should be punished.
  • JNighthawkJNighthawk Join Date: 2002-11-11 Member: 8160Members
Guys, there's nothing to discuss. It is a bug and it is reported. Lifeforms that come out of damaged eggs are supposed to be damaged proportionally according to the damage on the egg. If the egg had 50% health, the Onos that came out of it will have 50% health. The health meter shown is not the egg's health, but the alien's health that is inside. The egg is torn apart as the alien inside is shot.

perhaps the eggs shell should provide some protection then?

    l;ike, -25% damage?
