    And right here you've given a perfect argument as to why the devs shouldn't bother to remove/nerf it. In my opinion those few players who have absolutely mastered it (I'm talking "wasted days in a local server to get it perfect") deserve to at least get some small reward from it. Having said that, bunnyhopping DOES NOT MAKE YOU A GOOD PLAYER. As soon as you start to bhop, it makes it harder to control your movement if you get caught off-guard. Also, just because you can move like a mofo DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN AIM.

    Learn to aim, then if you could be stuffed, learn to bhop. Bhop does not make you a good player, but if you incorporate it into your playing style maybe you'll have a bit of fun in the process.

    hey guys, ive been playing hl mods for like 2 years, and ns is the first time i attempted to learn to bhop, and it took like 3 days but i almost have it down, well atleast i can get nice speed with decent consistancy bunnyhopping, but i suck... in the server i play in most of the rine players have decent + aim so bhoping only makes the slightest difference. its nice to use when somebody cant aim though.

    @Samah:
    BHopping makes for better control, not worse. An airborne skulk can do some pretty crazy crap with air control. Looking back on the bad old days when I'd jump at marines and be frustrated to no end by evasion, its fair to say an understanding of bunnyhopping is pretty vital to melee in NS, not a detraction :/

    I still perfere wall climbing/b-hopping, the ultimate evasion for me. (Wall climbing in battle, then jumping/or leaping off to taste that tender, juicy, slim, thin, flesh of marines.)

    A lot of people assume that because bunny hopping is a skill that it is therefore justified. Not true. When you test something or are looking for some definitive way of playing a game you look for consistency. Bunnyhopping is the most inconsistent variable in NS' development.

    Sure top clanners may recieve similar speed bonuses from it, and they may have mastered tequniques of evasion while bunny hopping. They probobly have their own style, creating uniqueness. The issue arises when you've got a game like NS. How can it be physically possible to balance a game where one of it's most fundamental skills - the BHop - is almost completely different from person to person?

    One might argue that every other bit of NS contains a bit of unique flair. That is not the issue: we're dealing with marines vs. aliens here, guns and the like are inherently different. That is actually the core of the issue with bhopping. The ONLY reason it works with TFC is that each side is almost identical and the maps are symetrical. Natural-Selection can boast neither of these elements.

    Aim both makes a larger difference than bhop and there is a much bigger gap between the best and most pubbers. That arguement won't work.

    Trying to compare aiming to bhopping is folly as there are two extremely important differences.

    The first is that aiming is
    A) Instinctive. You don't need to go google "How to Aim in Half Life" to figure out how to do it.
    B) Gradual. There is no point where you simply can't aim. Your aim may suck, it may be terrible, or it may be godlike, but there is no point where you simply cannot do it.

    Bhop on the other hand there is a significant number of people who simply can't do it. Not can't do it gracefully, or can't do it quickly, simply can not do it at all. It's as if the ability doesn't exist for them.

    So consistency is a factor, because there is first that binary condition between can you bhop or can't you before you can even address the issue of how skilled a person is at bhopping.

    It's that binary issue that bothers me, and that the most common way to address it seems to require editing the config or the console.

    thats part of the game

    thats about good an argument as marines complaining about focus skulks IMO
