Ok, since this thread didn't get locked, this is my personal guess (I always belived this is something like this, since I first heard about it):
- BUS is some sort of external system, it most likely consists of part that is web based (will be public) and part that is hardcoded into NS
- NS part is already done, and sends data from some game rounds to the BUS (I remember short lags at round ends shortly after 3b4 release that could be explained by such "transfers") - it's also possible to check it with firewall if someone really wants to find out..
- I could imagine that it can provide whole new level of gameplay. Like making "wars" or "campaigns" made from normal NS games, making some sort of clan ranking, or comm-ranking system.
Note that Licho has, his PT status nonwithstanding, exactely as many informations on this as the rest of us, so don't even think about starting rumors <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yes, but I know a secret, phase 1 of BUS is already done!! I hope it doesn't have many phases.. whatever it is .. :-)
If "phases" are mentioned, perhaps it's some big Phase Gate upgrade :-) For example ability to teleport from one server to another.. and phase 1 (PG1) is basically the same thing as Star Gate 1 (SG1) :-)
"Guilds" will be added to NS, everyone can join guild. There will be only 2 or very few guilds. Every guild member will get special icon on server..
If there are people from one guild in marine team and from other guild as aliens, match they play is calculated into their individual and guild results.. All guilds wage war this way and gain something... for example higher place in rankings or new shiny icons :-)
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->And why wouldn't you want other mods to"copy" it? There is nothing wrong with other mods copying it but when you have put all the hard work in only to find a fully funded project can release your system before you can and take credit for it, thats why you'd have to keep a careful eye on it.

"We are adding more programmers to the team, so bugs and features can be implemented much faster. Besides fixing bugs, we plan to increase the control that mappers have over mission goals and placing structures, so we can start seeing varied game types (Escape, Save/Kill the Colonists, Onos vs. Marines, etc.). We haven't started working on this yet, it's just the current plan."
I wish that was the BUS, I've always been a sucker for objective based maps.
I bet BUS is a method of delivery for subliminal commercials so that flayra and max can get some cash from us non consties <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->...
Bus.. b-u-s.. b u s.. if you put it backwards its sub.
Sub. sub... if you re-arrange the letters it becomes ubs. Ubs in front of a mirror is sbu.
SBU means "System based unit". In french it's "Unité basé sur le système".
If you translate that french version into portugese it becomes "Unidade baseada no sistema".
If you take that portugese version and turn it around its: "sistema no baseada unidade".
Then translate it in english: "system in the based unit".
Now, obviously, this is also a coded message.
"System" has in "family". "in the" has in "inside". "based" has in "waiting". "unit" has in "cell".
Family is inside, waiting for the cell. That makes no sense at first, but ask the closest person near you what he thinks it means out of context, and he might tell you it's a clever lingo for an event waiting to happen. Think about it! If the family is already inside, and by family we mean "project", and by inside it means "coded in the game", and it's waiting, meaning "future patch", for the cell, the cell must be the BUS! There lies the key to this whole charade!
Google search evolution cell. First link you get is about Darwin!
That's it! Darwin will be implemented in the next patch! What does it all mean? I need help on that.

If you announce an System and dont say what it is the people start asking when will it be release and what is it !!!!
So i dont see your point why people stop asking for the release Date. I mean the System would be released with the Next NS so everybody probably want to know when it will be released.
Cagey is onboard as a developer now so his work with mapping is probably unrelated.

Nope. IMO the BUS can be a kind of stats thing. You see, the NS servers obviously communicate with Flayra's server (for example they must ask Flay's server if they should give you a constie icon or not on the scoreboard). I think it can be something that sends information about balance. For example, when marines win on a server, it could send an information "marine victory" to Flayra. So, for example if marines win too much they could get nerfed in the next release. It would be more objective than flames and whinings on the forums... Anyway no one knows anything about it... but I think it's not related to gameplay. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Or they secretly implant this stats thing into the server then release a whole new NS with new balance!!!
