"map And Client.dll Differs" - Read Before Judging

I have the “map and client.dll differs" problem in NS, CS and DOD.

To prove that I HAVE read the topics, here's a list with the common suggestions.

1. Install patch x.xx, check patches are installed correct
2. Check that server has installed patch
3. Check that no second NS folder exists
4. Search drive for more than 1 version of client.dll
5. Change your IDE cable (!)

I've tried to follow different installation guides from forums and web pages.

I took the consequence and borrowed a friends computer with similar configuration. I bought two brand new IDE cables and we reinstalled simultaneously. We both have an original cd-key and original, registered versions of windows XP. My friend can play NS. I cannot.

Basically what people with the same problem are told is that they haven't installed correctly yet, and then people get flamed a little, called a newbie and told to perform a search on the forum before bothering everyone.

I have reached the conclusion that my motherboard, HD or IDE controller is defect. Before I buy a lot of new hardware I risk my life and ask for help. Is there’s one tiny thing I have forgotten? I emphasize that I installed OS, game and patches in the exact same way on two almost identical computers, and mine just doesn’t work.

Finally, does someone know of a program that can test my hardware, especially HD and MB/IDE-controller? Scandisk and Seagate disk tools didn't find any problems or bad sectors. (And don’t tell me to search the forum at techsupport.com or whatever.com, I did that)

Feel free to mail me at eggfacedk@hotmail.com if you have the same problem, solutions or some sort of diagnostic tool.

Thank you.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I can play a given map ONE time, and that's it.

If I install the patch, I can play it ONE more time.
    Play - mapchange - reinstall - play - mapchange - reinstall - play - mapchange - reinstall - you get the idea.
