<a href='http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/half-life-2/512691p1.html' target='_blank'>Gamespy's hands on preview</a>
<a href='http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/halflife2/screenindex.html' target='_blank'>New HL2 shots</a> (new as in today, 5/10/04)
I think its interesting that they're actually letting people PLAY it now. Gamespot is also reporting that the game is feature complete and they're now just testing it, but who knows cause they said that last year at E3 too. Still, it sounds as if HL2 is gonna be great even if it isn't technically superior from the get-go like HL1 was when it was brand new (all those years ago)

the Screenshots I've seen looked pretty nice.
EDIT: Although I joined the #hl2 channel on Gamesurge and there was this guy claiming to be the AI programmer for the game. Said I could still get on the beta if I signed up on the list. Figured he was some crackpot, but maybe he wasn't...

Yeah, EVERYONE is getting a hands-on. PCGamer got it first, then the Europe version, then 40 bajillion other sites.
I think their for real this time guys. And being I'm a subscriber, I just d/led the interview with Doug Lombardi- it sounds authentic.
And now a quote from Testament back in the 80's
"Yah computers might catch on, but I'll never buy one."
Yah for HL2 PR blitz, means its comming relatively soon.
I still have my preorder form from months ago. :o
Sounds look some groovy stuff to discuss at E3 this year.
I hope it comes out before the end of summer so I'll have something to do next semester (woot, play with gravity guns) - did I mention my university's network sucks so much that I can't play online multiplayer games?
I guess the Strider is supposed to replace it?
But by replace I guess you mean it's just another monster that's meant to be huge and mean.
Another Valve trick.
-edit-
Is it just me or do the graphics seem sucky?

These are not the droids you're looking for...
I hear that it's impervious to bullets.
It seems like they have a different machine all together taking the screenshots. I don't care too much though, seeing hot screenshots makes me sad sometimes(geforce4) but at least I know I can get results like in the screenshots now <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
pjofsky: Bullets were pretty useless against the garg as well <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I believe that's the incendary grenade launcher. It was in one of the bink videos from last year's E3

Same. Just seems to me that they're holding back.

yeah, graphics aint that good, cept for the character models, which are awsome mostly (and facial annimation, which should be fun to mess around with)
Also: expect tons of information tommorow, it is the start of E3 after all <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Do they have a website with the stuff, or do the expect me to buy their magazine?
[because that's <i>not </i>going to happen - I'm a poor college student <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->]
Either way, the information will probably be available to every single person at E3 (that wants to wade through lines at the HL2 booth).
*shrugs*
they screwed up.

Yeah, I hate it when game companies screw up by creating the most superlative FPS experience known to man.
