Just as a note, I have encountered a part of the furry crowd that deplores the more known part of furries. They just like RPing anthro-characters and making fun of the disgusting furries...

As long as they keep to their corner of the internet, I have no quarrels. The problem is that some of them leak all over the place and that brings nothign but trouble...

Only about 1% of them are as bad as the media Hype. (such as on SA)

    Thank you.

Want to know what a furry is? Someone who accociates themselves with an animal, and usually visions themself as a form of that animal. (sometimes anthropomorphic versions, sometimes not.)

Thats about all there is to it.

Yeah, that CoH thing is the funniest non-list and non-PS on SA in a long time. I was quite suprised when I found myself chuckling at it when I first saw it, since I had begun taking for granted that the front page isn't funny anymore. I only read it for what the forums goons do anyways, since they usually are pretty funny. And I like to laugh at them because they get to pay for the priviledge of making me laugh. Joke's on them! HAHA!

But as for the whole furry thing, besides being something that SA takes itself FAR too seriously about, it simply isn't funny anymore. It's been done abotu a zillion times, and not just by them either. I mean, I'd never realised that furries can be geeky unless I had been told several thousand times by various internet pundits (or perhaps if I had just LOOKED AT MYSELF). SA has only been around for 5 years or so(I think), but people have been taking a dump on furries (at least the ones that wouldn't enjoy having a dump taken on them) for as long as we have existed. It's overused besides being hateful and stupid, but my problem is mostly with the first part. And it makes me sad that such terrible jokes can get people so worked up. I wish everyone could take an insult as well as I, as it is something I pride myself on.

Huh? CSI episode of furries? What happened? Some al mighty thumper saw a furry in their costume going to a convention and decided to send them through a wood chipper or soemthing?
  • Sniper_ChanceSniper_Chance Join Date: 2002-12-11 Member: 10549Members
IIRC it was about this corpse in a fursuit that was found lying in a ditch. The CSI team went on a "fantastic journey" to a furry convention full of middle-aged men dancing around in fursuits. They tracked down the killer, who was some guy that, honestly, believed he was a female tiger.

Of course, this episode "offended" every single furry on the internet. Honestly, it doesn't take much to offend furries, and yet there's so many reasons to make fun of them. It's like they <i>expect</i> that people worldwide will accept them into society, that they deny their humanity and choose instead to roleplay being an anthropomorphic fauna or whatever and do unmentionable, bizarre things.

No, actually the killer was a random redneck who shot the guy because he thought the guy in a suit was a coyote as the guy in the suit was on the side of the road vomiting because he had been fed some kind of chemical that I am not going to ty to spell here that was meant to induce sickness. The dude in the cat suit (who is played by the most stereotypical "nerdy" actor, I don't know his name but he's the guy who looks an amazingly large amount like David Kross) was a suspect for about the first 20 minutes of the show, then they realised he wasn't a killer, just a man-slut.

I personally was more offended by the overall terribleness of the show. It's one of those really bad primetime shows that tries to cash in on sounding smart rather than actually having good writing or acting, as I said this particular episode is the only one I've managed to sit through all the way. The writing on the show really is bad, the plots are weak and held together with scotch tape, and the puns were absolutely gut-wrenchingly painful and unfunny. Frankly the only notable part of the episode when it comes to the actual production was the wolf-guy, who does one of the best slow-burns I've seen outside of a Marx Brothers movie, the growling just makes it classic.

Well getting to how easily offended we are, you are very right. Furries are notoriously the easiest people in the entire world to cheese off, and sometimes we actually have reason, I mean we do catch a lot of uneeded flack from just about everyone, and I can take a joke about as well as the next guy, but really furry jokes were old and stupid and overdone years ago. Really though most of the people who are going to get mad about it are the kids who (besides often being stupid like most kids) aren't huge fat nerds with ponytails, they often get mad simply because they are lumped together with the fat nerds with ponytails (and most of the time, the older guys who are the aforementioned fat nerds don't care at all about what people say about em) and mistakenly think they can try and integrate themselves into the majority society quickly and easily. That was of course the abridged version of the social mindset of what is of course a much more complex situation. I personally try to avoid getting angry over it, frankly I think anyone being made fun of that much is stupid, but it's not as if me getting angry will help, so I make it a poaint to not get ticked over it.

Do I know how to expound on a subject or what?

On the topic of Furries, I don't mind them being all "I was an animal" thats great fine, I like Video Games whatever floats your boat.

The problem I have is the "Holier Than Thou" attitude that many of them come out with. Suddenly theres a large amount of "Humanity Sucks, we animals would totally create a better culture. I hate being human and all humanity." Or something. Now I know Humanity isn't really that great and theres a few blemishes and stuff but seriously, if you really, really hate humanity so much why are you still here and why aren't you trying to do anything about it? Surely if humanity sucks as much **** as you say it does why don't you go and do something about it rather than whine?

Or am I completely missing the point and killing random bystanders as I do it?

-EDIT- And I always thought that Furries were a type of art best left unspoken about...... -EDIT-

    Actually, for a lot of furs it isn't an "I was a/n <animal>" situation, rather a "I have spiritual connections with <animal>", or alternatively, <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70544&view=findpost&p=1062539' target='_blank'>as Beast said...</a>

Sounds like "burned furs" or some similar "subcommunity". A large majority of furs don't really care.

Pretty much, but then again, a lot of people do as well.

I think the main reason that so many people hate furs is just because it encompasses a whole slew of fetishes, which a lot of people don't agree with and find outright sick or disturbing (vore? macro/micro?) Makes us really easy targets. But seriously, remembe not everyone is like what you read or see. It's like saying all muslims are terrorists because a group of them decide to hurl airplanes into buildings (WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE CASE).
