Random Marine Sounds In Ms

Often when the marines relocate, and MS is cleared out, i often hear the sound of weapon switching. Why is that?

Every time a marine spawns, the sound of them getting / reloading all thier equipment is played at marines start. I dunno WHY tho <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Its the same sound as when you first join a game, it is tied to the location of spawn points and not IP's

I was in a corner of a marine start and kept hiding as a gorge for about a minute because I thought there was people in the marine spawn but it was just the sound of them spawning <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That bug has been around since 1.0x quite unnerving sometimes especially as a gorge building MS node.

and when you, as a marine, sneak your way into your old base and find a gorge there... and then when that sound comes it jumps up and starts panicking... and then you waste it. priceless. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I have on many occasions heard this bug is not fixable due to engine issues. It's not like it ruins the game, so live with it.

Ive always assumed it was so anyone playing the game as aliens for the first time could get a 'heads up' when wondering around an unfamiliar map.

I have heard something similar to what wither said, but that it wasn't a bug but needed for some part of the game, nonetheless it's not going to ruin the game, and at the bare minimun it's going to keep people on there toes.

as roger dodger said, its been around since 1.0. I always assumed it was in there on purpouse, and that the sounds played randomly, just to keep aliens on their toes.

it doesnt really ruin the game, so leave it as it is imho.

Conversly, it's inclusion doesn't add anything, so why leave it as it is?

Its still rather annoying. Sound is a huge advantage you can use in NS. You suddenly hear the clickty clack of the skulk coming your way when you're knifing the res node. You hear an onos and you high-tail it out of there. You hear a large amount of footsteps, and you reconsider your decision to "take care of it".

No, you're right, its not important. But in a game when sound is relied on heavily, its something that should be fixed.

Its ambient sounds of the map adding ambience and irritation to it.
There are always marines near marine spawn, its just on a lower level.
They sit down there making noise, having fun for being out of bite range with food reserves for years.

I quite like the sound playing in spawn if I'm a gorgie busy building the res there, it reminds me that my team is doing their job and killing those 'rines.

Heheh...can the mappers then kindly add the sound of a Onos roar in the hives, whether up or not, just to add ambience and keep marines running for cover ?

Quiet funny, imagine a new player that stumbled into a unbuilt hive and suddenly "RaawwR" !! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> 'Onoes !!11 Teh inivible Onos!!'

The obvious and easy fix would just be to remove the spawn sound all togther.

I'm pretty sure this bug has something to do with the fact that ips teleport marines to thier spawn location from one of the standard spawns, therefore there is no way to make the spawnsound "teleport" with the marines.

Its really nerving, it should be removed fast.

When marines relocate, and I as skulk get into their base I always heard the reloading sound and think..... This is stupid. ....
