That's ironic, cause I'd stick this film in the same category of 'mindless dross' as xXx.

If I want to watch an 'intelligent' film, y'know, ones with real style and integrity, I'll slap L.A. Confidential or Memento on, to name but two truly brilliant films.

classing any film whatsoever in the same category as xXx is an insult.
xXx should be erased from the annuals of human history and never spoken of again... it's also the only film with vin diesel in it that's made me cringe (I loved pitch black while the fast and the furious was fun enough to watch too ^^ ).

WHo cares he dies in LoTR.

I think it has a great plot. Just as much as a "Thinking" type of movie than an action movie.

The plot is a bastardised hybrid of 1984 and The Matrix. It doesn't even try to hide it.

Seriously, I loved the action, but that's a total of 20-odd minutes out of 107 minutes running time. The other 87 minutes I was sitting there feeling nonchalant about the fact that I had wasted money coming to see it.

The only thing I didn't like was when he cut the guys face off...it looked so corny. But during the directors comments he said somthing about not having enough money or time.

    Correct.

The plot was very... original. And the action scenes were COOOOL^2. Currently I have the Equilibrium pistol as my NS pistol model.

How so , using akinmo pistols has been around for ever, so have long black trench coats,

    Maybe dodging bullets?
People dodge bullets in every movie lol. In this one, predicting bullet tragectory is used, and thats not the same as bullet time .

maybe similarities in the high collard trench coats?

Equilibrium came out before The Matrix Reloaded, which had the similar coat that Neo wore, and the same fights inside the rich mansion type thing, and fighting with swords as well as guns.

But yea as someone said before, you cant really say one movie really rips off another,

They might add a new twist to an older plot, but thats been done for ever by any genre, just look at all those kung fu, western, end of the world, alien space invader movies out there. All the same, just builidng on each other or adding a new twist. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
