Hmmm... will the marines have a leader?
When the mod comes out the first day everyone is goanna be excited and rush into servers and be ready to play.... and then.... noone has any commander skills. Did it take PTs a long time to learn commander? I don't expect there to be much marine victories until people figure out some good commanding technique. I know I'm goanna focus on aliens for the first couple of weeks. What do you guys think?

(Mostly what NOT to do )
First day or so, it'll be a toss up, cause most people won't know what their doing. Then for a week, the marines will probably get slaughtered pretty badly, but then after that I think it'll balance out.
As long as someone gets in the CC and builds an infantry portal...
A nice little tactic that works for me is just to simply deny them ammo. IE; I dont build an armory till much later in the game.
Had this one game in Nancy, wont go into much detail however, where I jumped into the CC. At first all was going well - then I started to get 'suggestions' from my marines .. I ignore them, continue to build. Then I started getting demands and getting insulted. They're yelling about the fact we have 200+ resources with no upgrades and what not.
Well you see ... I am the commander, not them. Period. I had a set stradigy I was following from the second I jumped into it and I wasnt going to change it for nothing.
Marines need the ammo. If you deny them the armory, they cant just load up and go willy-nilly. It may sound harsh, but its hard as hell to control anyone when they dont want to listen to you. I just drop my marines a few 100 packs of ammo every other battle or so, and they do what I say. When I drop a turret factory with some turrets, you damn well better believe they all build. When I give a command, they follow it, or they get nothing.
We ended up in one hell of a game and for a second there, it looked pretty bad. But I held it together and kept my marines in check. We had won, and at the end of the game everyone was happy - marines and aliens alike ... well, except for those few marines on my team that cant except the fact I dont listen to every damn word they say, when at the begining of the game, none of them would even touch the commander ...
anyway ...
Unfortunatly for you guys, you may not be able to use this tactic. Your 'team mates' will be so irate they dont have 100 health, 100 armor, and full shotgun/hmg/lmg+pistol ammo with full upgrades, that they will vote you out without a bat of an eyelash ..
Unfortunate too ...
Anyway, the point;
Try to play the way you want to command. Dont give in to your team mates demands. Sure, place a turret here or there, or give someone a shotgun instead of a welder - but dont feel like you have to sit there and baby sit them.
As the commander, your the one who more or less determines the out come of the game. If you have a set stradigy, try it. See what happens and learn from it, good or bad. Dont give in to baby sitting you marines because you'll just get owned. Hard.

They'll be soft and chewey for the alien jaws XD
-=Scythe=-
By all estimates, 4 marines with shotguns should absolutely annihilate a single Skulk. But that's just not always the case...
Provided his units listen to what he says.
And Kilmster... yeeeaaaahhhh... good luck with that kill-ratio thing.
However, it is advisable to purchase a microphone (headset mic) if you want to command frequently. They're invaluable.
Scores ARE NOT SHOWN for the marine team. They only have a team score.
Aliens, being more DM-oriented, do have individual scores. Personally, I never look at the points. I pull up the scoreboard to see who's alive, who's dead, and what classes my alien teammates are.
Weeeeeeeee!
I love the sound of that...
/giggles like school girl
cuz you cant stay alive without working together, yes?
oh and the commander stuff wont be that hard to get. the building will be self explanaty in game. and who here doesnt know that placing an sentry at spots where aliens might come from is usually a good idea? the teching might be a bit slower, but as you said the human players that play the marines doesnt need more than their health, ammo and sometimes a better gun I will only need my trustworthy rambo knife, i dont need those fancy sunglasses either, just send me in through the door to the hives and see what happens ^^
as for step 8, that won't be good because in the beginning everyones gonna be a noob.
I think it'll be a case, like it cs, where the commander frantically tries to get his team to work together...as they are being cut down...one by one...as they wonder off alone. I like the idea of cutting off the marines from ammo...try and get them to listen to the commander. I know if I try and command a team...I'll have to think of something similar to get them to listen, though it should be really funny to have one of my men wonder off, alone, and theng et overwhelemed by aleins and start creaming for help from his teammates...who did listen, and then...just before he dies I can go, Told you so.
