Help Me With My Noob Questions!

ladders and minimaps
Before I say anything, I want to mention that I used search and couldn't find anything relating to my questions.

Problem 1)

When testing my map, as an onos, I can't use the ladders properly. I teleport a few feet away every time I try to use it. I tried making the func_ladder brush where it doesn't cover the entire surface of the ladder, but that still doesn't work. I had it offset 16 units(at top and bottom), and it didn't work. Is there an exact distance it should be? Or is there something else you got to do.

UPDATE:I tried making the ladders three units thick(they were one unit thick before) and the onoses can now climb the ladder properly. However they still clip the onos as he walks to it. One ladder, for example, connects the floor to a platform. When an onos is on the platform, and tries to walk to the ladder, he is blocked, and must climb up the ladder a little. I tried making it go 16, 24, and 32 units lower. The 16 unit ladder still blocks onos movement, while the other two work. But, marines now have trouble climbing all three of the ladders(it's pretty challenging to get on). There has to be a proper way to do this!!!

Problem 2)

I built my minimap(after I set the commander culls(which I'm pretty sure are correct)) and it doesn't look right. It seems like everything is too far to the left. Do you have to build it before you set the culls? Or do the culls need to be at special values?

UPDATE:I reset the commander culls to their default, built the minimap, and what do you know, it worked. The only problem is that I'm afraid to put the commander culls in, because I'm paranoid it will mess it up again. Will it? I heard that you should delete the first minimap before you attempt to build another, is that true?

Well, thanks in advance for your help.

1)ladder tutorialLike this it should work.

2)If you set your map dimentions correctly, there shouldn't be any problem here neither. What happens if you set the dimentions to maximum (minx -4096 maxx 4096 miny -4096 maxy 4096), compile, buildminimap, relaunch the map, is it still offsetted?

    hope it helps

You can't tie to a single func_ladder several ladders. One per ladder, if you don't do this, it'll throw you through the air!

Is it only the onos that is having trouble on the ladder? I'm wondering if you set up the clip hulls correctly. Now, if you have, and you don't have more than 1 brush tied to the entity than you shouldn't have a problem. Even if you have the ladder set up correctly the onos will still "stick" to the top of it. The onos movement is a little odd on ladders, so test your next to one from an offical map to see if your ladder is doing anything different.
