<div class="IPBDescription">porting from HL1 code to the new engine</div> If youve seen the video on fileplanet, you saw what they did to CS. and in case you havn't...

the new HL2 engine is going to be somewhat compatible with old HL1 code. in the video they showed off a port of CS to the new HL2 engine. the results were minimal changes in gameplay and rediculous asthetic upgrades. valve plans on releasing an SDK which will allow coders to port existing HL1 code to the HL2 engine with ease. visual boost aside, it opens up a world of new options to add to the mod including newer, more accurate ragdoll physics.

bottom line; Vlave will be making it easy for the NS crew to port from HL1 mod to eye-explodingly fantastical HL2 mod. now i know flayra has talked about an HL2 mod and others have beaten it into the ground... but as time and developement go on its becoming easier and easier to make the move from HL1 to HL2. better yet, valve is releasing this SDK BEFORE HL2 comes out by about a month.

just speculating; wonder how this changes flay's plans... and i dont even need to mention how this would allow that flamethrower everyones been looking foreward to. i just cant wait for greal games like this, held down by the now primitave HL1 engine, to emerge bigger and better as HL2 mods.

I quite honestly doubt that NS will be portable that easily. Counter-Strike uses pretty simple code in comparison to NS. NS is full of dirty, ugly hacks and a lot of messy workarounds just to get things working acceptably on the HL engine.

Also, there are already a few threads concerning HL2 at E3, and code-portability in the proper forum... Off-Topic.

Currently there are no plans for NS on HL2, and there won't be until something more concrete actually shows up (such as an SDK, or better yet the released game).
