An interstellar corporation the size of Omnicore requires a huge number of administrative decisions to be made every second. Resources need to be allocated, ships scheduled, personnel assigned, product distributed, all in the profit maximizing amounts. The entity responsible for this is known as Shiva, which is thought to be the most powerful supercomputer in the galaxy. The whereabouts of this computer are a tightly guarded secret since it would otherwise become a frequent target for attack from Omnicore’s competitors. All information about it is strictly confidential. Even the name Shiva may be the result of custom rather than an actual official name. Very frequently, orders percolate through the company in cryptic impersonal messages that arrive at any time in maximum priority digital readouts. At every point in the chain of command there are orders that have no accountable source. Confused employees come questioning to their superiors who are just as befuddled, but those who wish to retain their jobs at Omnicore quickly learn to follow these orders whenever they arrive. As a result the controlling force behind the company has attained mythical status, and was been likened to the Hindu god Shiva. It has the power of life and death over the humans in its charge, and its gigantic allocation plans called to mind images of the “Lord of the Dance.”

I'm about 50% done with ns_shiva. Screenshots of it can be found here. I have tried to design the logo myself. I know however that there is immense talent in the art community on these forums, and I've concluded that I would probably get much better results putting out a request here than trying to continue to work on it. (My attempt can be found here which I'm not very happy with for obvious reasons.)
I'm looking for a logo design to be used on the computer screens in shiva station. I don't have any worries about texture memory usage at the moment, so please feel free to use the full 256x256 that half life allows. I would like the design to be a stylized form of the Shiva Nataraja which is a popular subject in Hindu sculpture. Any color scheme could be worked into the map, although green would not be ideal.
When the map is finished I intend on submitting if for official inclusion in the game and any contributers will be listed either in a thankyou in the readyroom or in an easter egg. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

*cough*....
Anyways,
Uhh ill give it a go, I need to do something anyways!
Nope, if you have a texture 512x512 in your wad file, it might make HL crash (or so I've heard). The limit is 256x256.
Think of it as something that you would have to get a bunch of prudes in suites to accept as a company logo.

why dont you have a map model with it on? just a flat plane with the texture on wud be better quality
I don't think I can really spare the entities for the number of places I want to use this, and 256x256 is plenty for my purposes.
*edit*
when i was making this, a little voice in my head said:
add some cheesy quote to this.. like "The Future Is Friendly, Shiva"

Try holding ctrl+shift+alt when loading PS up (ie. right after double clicking the icon) and deleting the prefs file. That usually fixes a lot of adobe program crashes, in my experience.
awesome. The more the merrier. thanks.
Edit: I've also added more pics to my site of the upper areas of the ship.
So a curvy logo (as is the one I'm making now) might fit the computery section of the map, but it would look horribly out of place in one of your industrial reactors.
Where exactly would the logo be placed? readyroom? computery place? industrial area?
the style of the logo will have to fit that.
(perhaps we could make a set of logos that look similar but have a different in style)
woo for my first from-scratch project in photoshop that crashes every 4 minutes

Sorry about that. I should have mentioned. This will be used primarily in the cleaner sections of the map on computer screens. It should fit best with the style of these two shots here and here I've also updated the screens on the page with more current shots.
I haven't made most of the clean sections of the map because they require computer textures that I haven't made yet. I intend on making some very colorful veil-style monitors, so don't feel contrained at all by the color scheme in those shots. The logo is most likely going to be used on a black background.
If there's going to be text in it I would prefer that it be more formal. It's fine if it doesn't include text at all since I was originally thinking I would include the text to the right of it in the situations in which it is needed, but either way works. Also make sure that all of the elements look good on a black background. Thanks a lot for the help.

Thanks for your input everyone.

Which looks like a dance club's logo so i've made another one:
Here it is:

This one is better i think, more "stylish" (correct english?)
And here is some variations

Feel free to use them if you like them (if you want to modify them i can send you the "source file" too).
(ns_shiva looks really awesome, good luck with it )
