What Is Cheating ?

Please tell me ur definition of being a cheater....

here's mine :

- all kind of Scripts !! e.x fades killing u while blinking (even allowed ones.. e.x. weapons on 4 keys, so u can change / fire very quickly.) [ "say " binds .. r quite ok]

- BunnyHopping .. I dont care about that normal jumping around, thats ok on both sides, but if players are nearly flying over the ground in zick-zack moving.. that's ****.

- common cheats like wallhack etc. I dont think i must say more, in last time I saw a few speed-cheaters...

- other models etc. !!!! on the last LAN I saw a guy playing CS with "red and green hitboxes / models " on screen .. pfff. I think in NS its equal. btw. this guy didnt even use the mouse .. just about all keys on keyboard were binded with scirpts. He ruled the game without doing anything.

- GAMMA !!! I dont know if this is a hack or bug or something else but most of the ppl seem to have nightglasses.. seeing u in every dark spot (wihtout motion tracking ) while my gamma is set to max.

    The only thing that is actually cheating is using a third-party hook that allows you to do things you shouldn't be able to do normally and/or effects gameplay.

    Scripts are part of the game. So is bunnyhopping. (Flayra has said this himself) If he didn't want them in, he could easily disable bunnyhopping and 99% of all scripts. You can always look for a server that disallows scripting or bunnyhopping. Arguing about them on this board is useless and always ends up in a flame war closely followed by a thread lock.

    This has absolutly nothign to do with cheating. As above post states a cheat is a 2nd program that runs out or in the game it controls or does things you wouldn't normal be able to do.

    Might as well lock this topic since this has been discussed too many times with the same result: Flame War.

    and binding keys to slots is cheating? Then everyone who has ever played the game is a cheater since you start with the 1-4 keys bound to slot1-4. Cheater.


    seriously though stop these topics. Everyone knows what is cheating and what isn't. Changing models and using a hook to get a wallhack/aimbot clearly are. No need to ask for confimation on that. Upping your gamma isn't a cheat... and I'm pretty sure it won't let you see cloaked things, that's just an urban legend I believe...

    Sconkel has a point, but I would consider only wallhacks/aimbots/weird colored models cheating

    Using scripts/bhopping/weird movement which causes faster speeds is indeed a great advantage, and it's quite unfair that a n00b has to learn all that to be at the same level, or has to be even better without those.

    But bhopping is a bug that is allowed by Flayra, scripting is allowed too, and weird movement...ah well, take a cafeine pill and experiment :o)

    Oh and about that guy that plays with only binds/weird models, he will get bored because he doesn't play it the normal way...

    Things which drastically change the appearance of maps, models which make opponents easier to see and programs which hook onto HL to give you things such as aimbots.

    There are some scripts which are disallowed by most leagues, but I don't have a problem with people using them if the want to. I'd probably use them if I wouldn't have to play with two configs for regular and clan play.

    Seeing that I already had to edit two posts, I guess a <span style='color:red'>***lock***</span> will only reduce the amount of unfriendlinesses to come.
