more ammo slows you down, too. better don't care about it. get a jetpack, hmg, welder, grenade, mines and full ammo and you will not be able to fly against the ceiling until your fuel runs out. you will begin to fall immediately after you hit the ceiling.
I prefer a good mix, Hmg for support and Shottie for the damage dealing. But in my squad, i give more hmg to my rines and a few with shotties to deal the killing blows. If my shottie ha run outta ammos, the Hmg can help them deal with the other aliens.
Meh, I think I'll prefer shotgun over hmg, because I can interrupt my reloading, and its cheaper for the com...though it sucks at long range, and the hmg does a bit more damage.
I've had bad experiences with ha/hmg's that tried to kill a hive, and because they ALL ran out of ammo at the same time, they got ALL killed O.o
I think a good pack of hmg's + a few shotties does the job pretty well.
Shotguns all the way!!! Shotguns allow you to run faster, giving you that extra edge when circle strafing a fade. Also Shotguns are superior to HMGs to people who know how to use them (like myself). Why? Simply because its very deceiving. A Fade or Onos being hit by a HMG will notice a steady decrement of his health and accordingly know when to back off, whereas using a shotgun will decrement their health in large amounts, easily making them go from mildly wounded to dead in 0.5 seconds. Fades against a lone sg marine will think they are all right even when they get down to 120/40 hp, little do they know, one more shot and their dead, that's the beauty of the shotgun. Of course HMGs in anyother situation (i.e. long hallways, nub team, lots of targets, etc.)
