1337gamer.com (who hosts T2K for free) planned to move T2K to another box, in the midst of this, i was warned to make a backup, which i spent 2 hours, and did...
the total file size of the backup (a zip OF a zip) was 1.97 GB.
as you can imagine, this is a hard blow to me and all the people using the site.
as for an ETA on getting the site back up, i must say that it never will be able to do that as the backup zip that i made prior to the crash... is corrupted.
upon the return of the site (my BEST estemate will be around 90 + hours)... we will come back new and improved...

about the improvements:
Bigbull being free of other duties has signed on as our "5-Minute Mirror" man, he will soon be in charge of the "File index"
The File index has been a dream of mine for a long time, but lacking the PhP knowlage and the flash knowlage, i was unable to make it a reality. Compromise after compromise has been taken, and we will return with a pure HTML file index.
The File Index will be the staging grounds for models not yet put into the website by me. There will be no preview images, nor silly popups, nothing but a file name to tell you what your downloading.
**WARNING** if you want a new and hip model, this is not the first place to look, if you know what your looking for, know that it's not on the site properly, then look here. this is more of a "temporary" hosting area for the T2K team, and for the public.
Also: with the money pending, T2K will be getting an NS server in the semi-near (thanks majorly to bigbull and donations) .

i've got all the models on my hard drive(s)... there's no worry about losing content...
the forums will be re-made, the site will be re-uploaded, and everything should return to normal... ....eventually
as for my first post,, i'm sorry i skipped around a bit... 1337gamer hit the delete button, (as they should, they did it to the old server) ... but didn't transfer the information BEFORE they hit the delete key... their mistake on that one...
the zip is corrupt (i guess we can blame me for that)
and i can't even view my own site at the moment, so i've tried to upload a news brief on it... but i'm not sure what it's like...

i made VERY sure i had a FEW backups of the forums sql.... and infact it was the first thing i uploaded...
i saved all the skin information (except forums banner) and all the uhh, yeah, other thingies IPB uses in their backup stuff....
it screwed up this time, but we got warning and ran for the bomb shelter.
Me too. If you need anything, just ask. This kind of thing happened to my site once... ugh what a nightmare. I've now taken to backing up to no fewer than 3 places (why yes, I _AM_ paranoid). I work with PHP/MySQL and web design a LOT (get paid for it, but its not a steady job, just a site here and there), so once again, if you need anything...
But still, a new look can be good <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

btw, do you think dill will let you host the next spec ops pack... not as exlusive, but as a primary mirror?
EDIT:\\ maybe you could set up a concept lounge, where natural selection's best and brightest conceptors can dump their images, might make it cool for modellers who don't have the time to ask for a concept to be made, they just search for what they want in diff catagories (weapons, structures, and players) and go ahead and make it crediting the concept author

Also it is true T2K will be opening an NS Server.
People will be asking why not just get a webhost, well the ns server is almost seperate from the t2k website side of it.
Any help and expertise is appreciated. Not trying to recruit, but you know.

1) Keep it clean, now i may not be the most openly happy or hateful towards NSA, but they have rights on these boards and i *WILL* enforce them
2.) the forums are the "concept lounge"... i even had a 400+ post of concept images i had collected... (which i will slowly put back up)
3.) Bijiy is head of the "Art" section of T2K, and should (if he ever gets off his behind) be getting a concept art section of the site finished. If you'd like to help (or better yet take over in my view...) you can contact him or me.
4.) there is a "Privilaged Memeber" on the T2K forums (when they get back that is) this member group recives access to two extra forums, one for private DEVELOPMENT of models, and one for private -and- pre-public releases.
there is no "way" to get into this group like the contributor group at NSA, they make you pay, but for them it's <b>more</b> than just forums, which is why i'm not charging people.
people that contribute *will* recive privilaged status, but the $$ amount is not a regard for me, anything will help and anything you can give is awsome, not, this doesn't mean that it's only restricted to *JUST* paying members. I am also giving slots to talented people i know. such people as numb_rider, chrono, obst, venmoch, and nottingham are such names that were admited by Skill and Dedication.
anyway, enough of my rants... keep it clean owen, this is a regulated fight, and no dirty blows will be allowed... from EITHER side...

well, that's the thing, i'de like to *not* need to build a database...
a nice little area to add a model (see the "add attatchment" thingy for reference) and a drop-down to select an "area" to put it in...
as you view the page, it loads up all the areas, and when you click, it downloads the model...
nothing complicated...
