Am I right, am I right?
[edit] Oh yeah, what does "Step Into The Orange" refer to? [/edit]
I believe from my personal observations they would never consider you in a million years, avenger. So back off. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
and if I was an admin I wouldn't just go around saying "please don't feed the trolls" like some people do. . .
When I first saw the thread title, I thought it was referring to the color scheme of an and old, <i>old</i> version of our forums. I recall seeing a screenshot, possibly even a mirrored equivalent to Google's cache feature, but haven't found it since. Would Nemesis Zero or any other members who've been here that long be able to tell us what it was like?
As for the promotion of admins, they are choosen by the community lead (e.g.: yours sincerely) or Flayra out of the mods whenever the need for a new one arrives.
How are mods being choosen, then? Whenever we realize that the tides of forum posts threaten to drown us or when one of us leaves our hearths, we throw suggestions for new ones around in the private moderatiors forum (no group restrictions there - you don't have to be Constie, PT, or Guide), and at the end, the community lead or Flayra gets to pick them. The 'lucky' individual then gets a PM asking him or her whether s/he is interested, and if s/he is, well, you guessed it.
On that note, please don't offer yourself as mod. I appreciate the thought, but we're invite-only and will remain so.
...or you tell Coil to do it and he just skips the "asking" and says "congrats... your a moderator" (at least in my case)... unless i missed the "asking" PM
no I don't get it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
and as far as I know Monse and Flayra are the only 2 with it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever said no?

"Flayra Visability" means that the person is to be viewed *as* flayra when flayra is absent.
this person would also have root access to the forums, and could possibly *take over* the forums from the person in charge. i'm sure that flayra trusts nem0 enough to give him this amount of access...
i would also suspect that there is a developers forum, which nem0 can see (even if he's not suposed to interact), and a "junk" section that flayra might be using to host temporary files for personal transfer and such.
I just knowticed it once, as well as knowticing the fact that their names are 'normal' when listed, so sorta put em together <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> (guess I was wrong <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

Well, that was a little before my time. Things were a lot more 'ad hoc' back then <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Not that I remembered, although I think some only decided to halfway through their reply...

Actually, sorry, Del, but no. 'Flayra visibility' means that the user of that group has access to flat out <i>all</i> parts of the boards, but I assume it won't be granted to anyone except Charlie. As for myself, I have no access to the dev forum and don't need it - if a flamewar erupted in there, I couldn't suspend the offender, anyway <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> I'm running the day-to-day business of the community, and have all the access I need for that, but none beyond.
mods have the powers of ban, lock, suspend, move, edit stuff like thaT (I am guessing thats it)
Admins have all of those plus actual controll over the forum (changing forum sections, updating the boards, fixing critical errors)
again, this is just general guesses <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
/me ponders Nom0 banning one of the devs....
*stares at the ideas and Suggestions forum...
Can you blame him? really? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
and yes, of corse tehre are invus ones ^_^

No, mods can't ban people. They can ask admins to do so, though.
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I'm sure I heard somewhere that Flayra visibility had certain forum sections deliberately invisible.....but it might have been the rumour monkey or I might have imagined it.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Nope, Flayra can see <i>everything</i>. What you are referring to is MonsEs group (Lowvis), which basically cuts all the parts Mons doesn't go into for fear of exploding in a cloud of expletives out.
I still hold with my beliefe that the admins (especialy Nem0) are actualy just random number generators that are ussed to pick out 'witty' lines and decide who to ban next.
And I am rather sure that any name that contains "Thansal" in it just got some extra weight added when picking the next Ban.

(oh, and for Boy: B/c we are curious)
i also don't understand how people have such high postcounts, esp. some of the mods/admins, i just don't see how you can post about so much
completely offtopic but, i have recieved the <i>same</i> gamespy weekly email 3 times today

Yes, MonsE has had to tend to real life duties. I'm sure he'll be back, I've seen his name on the boards from time to time.
example:
Nem0 nearly 2.5 years (and that is just the most recent incarnations of the forums I believe)
average posts per day:
9.1
do the math.
Obviously enugh there are alot of days that he makes 0 posts (holdiays and what not and many days where he spends a decent chunk of time here, thus you get some one with 7776 posts.
Me? I just go no life <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
doen from my nearly 15/day before i had it reset.
moderators and admins are on the forums constantly. (even reading them while logged out as it is when i am on any number of the 6 computers in my house)
