<div class="IPBDescription">Story to ns_circulation</div> "The Nexus originated from the Orion system, and was an alien created AI that shared suprising similarities to the code structure of many programs humans used in computers and autonomous machines. It used the simple algebraic rule; what happens to the left happens to the right. This formula was (through much historical evidence in the Orion system) was useful in many things, such as mass production of vehicles or machinery, and for the design of structurally sound buildings (since Earth is heading toward collapse in the next millenium, the amount of earthquakes and the need for strong building foundations has increased). The AI however, had a pre-programmed will, and that was to balance everything it was programmed into. As a test, military personell put it into their vehicle production facilities. This resulted in well ordered vehicles of a high quality, but various pieces of tactical information like flanking tactics, and diversionary forces, where thrown into chaos, since the program balnced them.
in 2250 Hackers inserted it into the Global civilian database.
Nexus had control over the population of the world, the amount of males, females, children, elderly and other living thing in the world was to be balanced out.
This was known as GM2250 (global massacre of 2250) and resulted in the creation of many wastelands, since many ecological systems were ruined.
A century later, scientists created the 'balance hack' which basically was a program compatible with Nexus that altered the way it saw the rule of balance. Instead of 'what happens to the left happens to the right' Nexus viewed things as 'What happens to me doesnt matter' and publicly broadcasted its surrender of Earth back to the people, as well as full control over its systems.
Thus scientists created the Nexus Avatar. The personification of Nexus, allowing it to interact with and understand humans (but on a human level). This allowed Nexus to truly improve the world, allocating resources as necessary and finally solving the problems of starvation and plauge. It was also responsible for the creation of a special organic bacteria, that could adapt and change anything to its will. The project was dispelled into the sun, and Nexus was secretly hateful of the human race.
it is now 2560, and Nexus has improved life for humans and its ally races greatly. But back on Earth, the new home of Nexus, a Kharra infestation has broken out in Air Recycling Facility 15. Facility 15 (reffered to as the 15th tank) is the centeral node for the reproduction of oxygen back into the atmosphere (Earth had been over polluted with carbon dioxide and methane since 2145), and was also the centeral control unit for all recycling facilities (if 15 fails, all facilities do).
The Kharra had returned, and Nexus was responsible. Nexus has been sucessfully isloated in the 15th tank and almost fully shut down (the facility is still operational so oxygen will be there for the planet). The TSA must infiltrate the facility and quickly dispose of the Kharra before they work their way into the main release ducts and spread the bacteria across Earth.
