Well it <i>is</i> a 64x64 icon, but there is a top and bottom border that accounts for about half of that height.  I didn't want to lose the sides of the movie, or stretch it, cause I like the widescreen-ness.  So technically, its 64x64, but only 64x20 or so is actually the movie.

The image size is indeed 64x64, he just added a bit of black space to the top and bottom <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->  Since the trailer has a width/height ratio of about 1.3, this had to be done to chnage the width-height ratio to 1.  Anyway, great job Ben, it's a little disappointing that so many colors were cut out but I fully agree that it had to be done to get the file size down.  I think it might just make a neat little ad banner, too.

Yeah, I really hate that.  I'll rerender it this afternoon and see if I can get the file size down a little.  A lot of it has to do with being over a minute long.. not your standard avatar length.

Quick Q: What program you use? I've been looking all over for one but the ones I've found are... bad.

I use Adobe AfterEffects 5.5 Production Bundle.  It's great professional software, but I don't really think it's best suited for animated gif work.

EDIT:  I'm rerendering the movie now, I'm estimating around 150kb this time, so maybe this one will actually be usable.  

I'm also working on a new <i>SURPRISE</i> for everyone that will hopefully be up later tonight or tomorrow.  I don't want to spoil it, but it's gonna be pretty, although of course none of it would have been possible without the NS team providing me with so much to work with.
