Release mirrors

How many mirrors are you planning to have on release? I guess this would be about time to start collecting information and asking people to provide mirrors. There will be like 2000 people downloading at the same time. So I should suggest first to announce release mirrors in <b>the IRC chat room</b> so the most dedicated NS people will get it first. Then like 30 minutes later make a post in the <b>forum</b> with big fat letters as well as post the news in teh news of RR and NS.org
After that it should go out on PHL and ModDB they'll probly be a little slow with the update. This is just an idea of how to divide up the large amount of downloaders that day.

well as long as fileplanet isnt the main download location. Im all for the release the mirrors in irc first. But why not just put it in irc right before putting it in dl section and news section? I mean in the forums would be good but it would take them even more time to relese(copying and pasting) sooooo I say just let them decide, they know what they are doing

I skimmed both posts but... they said(I think) around 30, kinda like DoD's stuff.

Last I heared (about a week or two ago) they had 20+ servers lined up for NS. I am guessing that number has increased, so I would say 30+ is a good guess.

well if they are in irc, they are more involved in the mod, if they are irc and forums they are really involved, if they are in forums they are involved but irc is more involved(you get no post count so people dont spam for count). You see in irc you can talk to many at once and no having to hit refresh. Well I dont know.... I just sayin stuff, say what you think  <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->  I dont care, ill just comment. And also if they are in irc they are usually in there all day(idle alot) and when theyre not idle they talk for a few hours, or they have 56k and talk for a few hours. Well some people in irc are just there to make you unhappy but luckile theres the admins.... So if youre not dedicated to ns in the irc you get a kick or ban.

the problem with the ns irc is that it doesn't show dedication to ns. i've been tehre a lot, and most conversations are about the wierdest things... there's a lot of junk in irc, so that doesn't really show dedication.

So basically if you don't enjoy chatting in IRC you want Natural-Selection less than others.  Don't see the logic behind that one.

No one's going to be getting the download links before anyone else.  You being here for 6 months doesn't make you any more deserving of downloading the mod than someone who heard about it yesterday, or someone who hears the news that there's a big page of mirror links.  You'll all have it by the beginning of next week, so it doesn't really matter.  Lots of mirrors, lots of players, don't worry.
