    The process is pretty easy.

    <img src='http://esuna.thezazi.net/mapping/ol1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    Here we have a simple view of how to do it. This is taken from the top-down 2d view. Brush 1 is your computer panel. This is textured with whatever computer panel you choose. Next what you do is create another brush of the exact same size except only 1 unit thick. This brush should be directly next to brush 1. Otherwise the overlay will appear to float too far away from the screen. Texture each side of this brush (Brush 2) with null and create the front texture to the relevant overlay texture for the computer texture you chose originally.

    <img src='http://esuna.thezazi.net/mapping/ol2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    This is an example of an overlay texture. On the right is the original texture with the borders and everything, on the left is the overlay. You'll notice that only the monitor screens are shown in the overlay, and the rest is covered in black. It's very easy to make an overlay, so if you don't have an overlay to the computer texture you used, you can easily make one by cloning the texture and blacking out all of the texture barring the screens.

    So anyway, back to the first image. You now have the two brushes. Brush 1 being the computer panel, brush 2 being the overlay. Now select the overlay brush and tie it to a func_illusionary. There's little to change in this part. Change the Render Mode to Additive and this will make the texture appear to glow and be half-transparent. Also, all black areas of the overlay will be invisible ingame.

    And that's it. Done. Also, i set the Render FX of the overlay entity to Distort or somesuch. this makes the overlay flicker on and off and adds a little bit of atmosphere.

    If you want, add the overlay texture to your lights.rad to make the screens glow naturally.
