Where Do I Start..

I need help. everytime i start a map it turns out to be totaly somthing i didn't want it to be. I can't figure out how big the hallways should be. I always make the rooms to big. I always hollow out rooms weird so when i have a room next to it to runs toghter.     hmmm

    its generally a good idea to scale down wall textures (that should keep room sizes down)

    most of your problems seem to involve making areas too big, so that will solve some of the problems

    hallways depend on what you want in them

    I find when I satart a map i drop 1 info player start and use that to get the start

    Well, a good height for a hallway is 128 units. Of course, I use Radiant and it has marked units... No real way to tell in VHE except by comparing texture sizes or putting down a player_start

    vhe has units aswell, on the status bar at the right (i think havent got hammer open atm), it tells u ur grid size ur currently at use [ and ] to change the grid size

    but yeah 128 is a gud starting size for height
